A whole lot of lichen going on. A veritable lichenlog pile. On 90th there stands a decrepit house with an extra lot next to it. There were some trees on the lot that had nothing apparent to recommend them to such an extent that the city issued a nuisance tree removal permit. Seems a bit harsh, but remove they did. Once long ago there was an episode of Oregon Field Guide (which my kids called Oregon Field Guy) where the host went to the Gifford Pinchot national forest just across the mighty Columbia river with the lichen ladies and they went up in one of those basket things which take you farther off the ground than I wish to go. Anyway they looked at they the lichen in the canopy and I paid close attention knowing full well I would never go up there. Little did I know that someone, using a chain saw, would bring the tree canopy to me. I was sad and yet fascinated. Boy is there ever a heavy cloaking up there. The 9th photo shows squirrel claw marks. Photo 10 shows one of my favorite spots and it is for rent. I assume it is actually the house, but I would be much more likely to want the retaining wall. Lichen on!
