Your Guide to First Year Subjects : Part 1
hello baby noojies! you are now stuck here for the next 5 years unless you make it to NALSAR or run off to Jindal. Studying is important and we are here to help. DO NOT ASK YOUR BATCHMATES FOR ADVICE that is stupid. This is based on personal experience. Understanding how thee teacher marks is as important as understanding the subject.
LEGAL METHOD - Attend classes. Write down unfamiliar things and do general research. It will be useful for the paper. You can study the given topics from any web source as well. They might explain better. You can definitely study this last minute. His marking can be arbitrary so focus on the internals. Don’t pin your hopes on LM. It can be quite unpredictable. Don’t get swept away it is mostly hay with very few needles. Senior Notes are not particularly helpful.
TORTS - Do not underestimate this subject. You will actually have to study in advance. Make a case list and mug it up. Senior notes can get you a 7 if studied well enough. Tort tutorial marks depend on how strictly your tutor marks. Work hard and get those internals.
CONTRACTS 1- Waiting for this one weren’t you. Only read the briefs. Read before class and take class notes. Saieesh’s notes are excellent. Aanchal’s briefs are perfect. Use those. Attending class is not necessary for a 7 but it may help depending on your learning style. Study regularly. Read the module articles for the conceptual questions. If you are panicking just do the 100 important cases, you can still get a 4 or 5.
SOCIOLOGY 1 - PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. Take notes. Do all the extra readings. Do the reading before exams. Use Kaira’s and Saieesh’s notes to revise. Non Arbitrary Marking. Ankita Ma’am is amazing.
ENGLISH - You can sleep in class. Study the day before and get a 7. Do your project well.
POLITICAL SCIENCE 1- Yes, you won’t have to attend class. JUST DO THE PAST PAPERS. You will get a 7 chill. YES I AM SERIOUS.

KOLKATA: The National University of Juridical Sciences ( NUJS) is expected to see some tumultuous agitation on Wednesday. After a long time the faculty meeting has been convened by vice chancellor Ishwar Bhatt and the former have been sharpening their daggers to go against the administration.
Allegations of irregularities in faculty appointment, lack of subject teachers, high handedness win subject distribution, allotting of grace marks to students without consulting teachers are some of the allegations that have been raised against the current administration by the faculty as it complained at the academic council last Saturday with a petition.
The students joined hands with the faculty and submitted a separate petition. The academic council directed Bhatt to immediately call a faculty meeting and sort out the differences. In the meantime, the complains have also reached the Bar Council of India and its representative in Saturday’s meeting even promosed to start an investigation in less than a month.
At Wednesday’s meeting the faculty plans to pin down the administration asking for replies to “specific complaints and redressal measures,” failing which the faculty might even approach the Chief Justice of India, who is the chancellor of the university, to intervene.
