Accidentally making my character transmasc

Did a writing thing for class where I write a scene where two characters are comfortable together in a specific room and then write the scene again but where there is an uneasy atmosphere and there are other people there.

So I wrote the scene for my oc Claire, where she plays hide and seek with the other children in the village and her cryptid friend Null helps her hide in a bush house and then I wrote it again.

Where her village is being burnt down by poachers/hunters and she is running to hide from the fire and the people chasing her in the bush, with a bleeding/hurt Null because Null tried to protect her.

And then I turned it in with no remorse

Null is my little meow meow I love them and their ghostly friend. I hope when they meet up on occasion they play pranks on the village or ppl investigating the swamp just for shits and giggles

Actually can Null laugh? Or speak in some way? maybe even just sign language or “facial” expressions like their eye scrunching up in amusement or full body laughs that don’t actually make sound. Idk I’m just making up ideas

They love playing pranks and messing with the locals. It’s sort of their thing. Even if ghost friend gets caught sometimes and scolded. The adults brush Null off as an imaginary friend so that’s Both a good and a bad for ghost friend.

Null can sort of speak, they make like cat sounds little purrs and squeaks. They also can laugh and when they do it’s like bird trolling. They are very expressive with their eyes and they can also read and write most languages.

Their pupils change shape as well as the size is the eyes and the shape of the eyes. Also all of their eyes can blink. Ghost friend also has sort of a touch based communication set up with them from when ghost was small. Because ghost was shy they always spoke with taps (Morse code) to communicate with everyone. Hence touch based language

Oh my god I love the idea that the dark matter stuff that makes up their body can change, like the village keeps getting sightings of them but the stories are just ever so slightly different between people, like someone who swore they saw Null flying overhead with blackout wings but another person who saw Null in the bushes with a tail and absurdly long fingers yfihiifudfu can they change the dark matter stuff voluntarily? Or does it just sorta happen and they’re used to it

Yeah the villagers have all sorts of stories about them, especially since they’ve been in the swamp for a very long time. Although they did come from somewhere else. They can voluntarily change their appearance but also sometimes they change subconsciously. For example if they are sleeping wings will subconsciously wrap them up. When they sleep their main eye, the one on their face closes but the rest continue shifting around.

Their friend, the unnamed ghost character is the only one in the village who knows anything about them. Ghost character is a child when they meet Null and as they grow they sort of stay friends with and protect Null. And in return if Ghost character ever needs anything Null is there to help. They are just best friends. Ghost character is not actually a ghost, you’ve probably seen them more then once. They wear a sheet over their head (I’m using they/them pronouns because I haven’t developed much for them other than appearance and relations with Null) and they are very shy.

Sorry I went on a tangent, but yeah the dark matter is sort of wild and does it’s own thing.
