it always felt like the start of a new trilogy to me, rather than a continuation of what happened. but then, all three games have a sort of disconnect to each other… its just the biggest one

I mean yeah, definitely! Dragon Age has always been about self contained stories, with smaller connections to each other

But no matter how you twist and turn it, it’s still Dragon Age, and there’s no way to hide the fact that they focused heavily on the open world and the grand illusion of being part of something big, and the story elements suffered for it.

And for a series that PRIDES itself on it’s writing, that’s kinda bad

a while back for a dnd campaign i came up with an oc who is a doppelganger bard - they have a stage-identity and a regular one (think medieval shapeshifting hannah montana basically). during this i discovered that "valendriel starshine" is not necessarily over-the-top for dnd elves

theres this constant push to make things better and bigger and nobody is asking if 3000000000 pixels are maybe too much

because its just gonna cause people to pay attention to all the places where the graphics engine just doesnt work quite yet… like, taking a step back and going for less realistic isnt a bad thing to do

No you see we need all the POLYGONS so we can really feel all these EMOTIONS and have all the FEELS but most of those feelings have turned into ‘please stop this, you’ve gone too far’

Most of all we’ve all forgotten to stop up and ask ourselves ‘do we want a ’’’realistic’’’ game looks kind of ‘off in places’ because they juuust can’t reach that point of realizm that looks good, or do we want a colorful and more cartoony one that looks fuckin amazing
