Title: Under the Mistletoe
Prompt: “Wanna kiss?”
Summary: Kokichi has to leave Rantaro’s Christmas party early due to an urgent call from DICE. Shuichi escorts him out and they find themselves under the mistletoe...
One-shot is under the cut!
It was after Kokichi opened his gift from the blind gift exchange that he received a phone call from one of his DICE members.
“Ah, I need to take this call.” Kokichi said, standing from his seat in between Rantaro and Himiko and walking out onto the balcony of Rantaro’s penthouse.
Shuichi watched Kokichi as Miu spoke.
“What kinda call is it that the little abortion’s gotta step out?” she asked.
“Do you think any of us know?” Keebo said with an exasperated sigh.
“Anyway, let’s move on. I’ll open my present next.” Rantaro said.
He tore the wrapping paper off of his gift to reveal a waffle maker.
“Huh, it’s a waffle maker.” he commented.
“Oh, that’s the one I bought!” Keebo said.
“Is that so...well, thank you for the gift, Keebo. I’ll make sure to use it.” Rantaro told him.
Shuichi looked over at Kokichi, who stepped back inside with his face pale.
“Ouma-kun? Did something happen?” he asked.
“I’m sorry, I’m going to have to leave early.” Kokichi said.
“Early?” Rantaro questioned.
“Yeah. I got a call from DICE and I need to hurry over right now.” Kokichi explained.
“I see...” Rantaro trailed off.
“Well, it’s a shame!” Kaede pouted. “We won’t get to know who got your gift.” she called out.
“Oh, I see who has my gift.” Kokichi said.
“Who?” Kaede asked.
“That’s a secret, Kayayday~” Kokichi singsonged.
Kaede pouted again as Shuichi spoke.
“I’ll escort you to the door.” he said.
“Would you really? Okay! Let’s go, Saihara-chan!” Kokichi chirped.
“Alright.” Shuichi stood. “I’ll be back.” he said as they left the living room and headed down the hall to the door.
“Is it serious?” Shuichi asked.
“Hm?” Kokichi hummed in response.
“The call, I mean. Was it serious?”
“Yeah. One of my members got injured during a mission, so I’m going to see them.”
“Oh, I see...”
They arrived by the door and Kokichi grabbed for his boots, slipping them on. He zipped up the sides as Shuichi spoke.
“Well, good luck with that.” Shuichi said.
“Thanks.” Kokichi replied.
Shuichi smiled as he turned to head back to the living room. But, Kokichi stopped him before he could.
“Wait, before you go...”
Shuichi turned back.
“Yeah?” he answered.
“Do you see where we’re standing?” Kokichi asked.
“Uh...by the door?” Shuichi answered uncertainly.
Kokichi shook his head.
“Look up.” he said.
Shuichi did as Kokichi instructed and saw the mistletoe that dangled over their heads. He swallowed at the implication.
He couldn’t possibly...
He watched Kokichi as he spoke.
“So...wanna kiss?” he asked.
Shuichi felt as if he had been struck by something.
He does! He actually wants to do it, he thought to himself.
Shuichi bit his lip.
I mean...I have had thoughts like that before, but I’ve never thought of acting on them, he thought to himself.
Shuichi looked at Kokichi, his eyes falling on his plush lips. He traced the curve of them, biting on his lip harder.
“Haha, juuuuuuust kidding—“ Kokichi was cut off by Shuichi pulling his close and their lips colliding in a kiss.
Kokichi stilled, his eyes wide in shock.
Saihara-chan...he’s kissing me...
Before Kokichi could kiss back, Shuichi pulled away, his cheeks tinted red.
“Saihara-chan...” he trailed off.
“I...” Shuichi scratches the back of his head nervously. “I heard that you can get bad luck if you don’t kiss under the mistletoe, so—“
Kokichi pulled him back in, looping his arms over his shoulders as their lips came together in another kiss. This time, the kiss was more intense as Shuichi’s hands traveled to Kokichi’s hips. Kokichi moaned a little, which made Shuichi slip his tongue in between his parted lips.
“I thought you had somewhere you needed to be?”
Kokichi gasped as he pulled away, the two of them whirling around to look at Rantaro, who stood in the hall with a sly smirk on his lips. Shuichi blushed and Kokichi looked away as Rantaro chuckled.
“It’s fine, you two can continue your moment. I’ll just head back—“
“N-No, you’re right! I do have somewhere I need to be!” Kokichi said.
He looked at Shuichi.
“I’ll see you around, Saihara-chan.” he said.
“Y-Yeah, see you around.” Shuichi stuttered out.
Kokichi smiled before heading out and closing the door behind him. Shuichi sighed, the blush disappearing as Rantaro spoke.
“It was about time, honestly.” he turned and headed down the hall. “Miu owes me big time now.” he said.
Shuichi eyed Rantaro curiously.
“He owes Iruma-san...?”
