Prompt: “Seriously?! The power’s out?!”
Summary: While Shuichi is helping Kokichi decorate his room for Christmas, the power goes out. Chaos ensues.
One-Shot Notes: Takes place in Prison Mode, where the students choose to coexist with each other rather than participate in the killing game; established Saiouma
One-shot is under the cut!
Shuichi stared down at the box of lights that Kokichi had in his room.
“That is a lot of lights.” he commented.
Kokichi giggled.
“It is, isn’t it? I found aaaaaaaaaaaall of these lights in the warehouse!” Kokichi chirped.
“Is that so...” Shuichi trailed off.
“Nishishi, I sure did! And since I love decorating for Christmas, this is perfect.” Kokichi told him.
“I can tell.” he looked around Kokichi’s room, which had Christmas decorations everywhere. “You must really love Christmas, don’t you, Ouma-kun?” he guessed.
“Yup! I love Christmas! It’s my favorite holiday.” Kokichi said.
Shuichi watched as Kokichi took out a set of lights, carrying them over to a nearby power outlet.
“Now, let’s test these lights here...” he trailed off as he plugged them into the socket.
His eyes sparkled as the different colored bulbs lit up.
“Wow...” he looked at Shuichi, a smile on his face as he held the bundle of lights. “Look, Saihara-chan! It’s lighting—“
Just then, the lights went out, plunging them in total darkness. The bundle fell from Kokichi’s hands as he let out a shout.
“Seriously?! The power’s out?!” he exclaimed.
“Well, that’s not good...” Shuichi trailed off as Monobear’s voice floated through the speakers in the room.
“Uh, testing, testing! Ah, there we go...hey, you punks! As you can see, the power’s out. I’m sending my beloved Monokubs to check it out, so in the meantime, sit there in the dark! The power should be back on shortly.” Monobear said.
“Are you for real right now?! I was just getting in the Christmas mood!” Kokichi whined.
Shuichi laughed.
“Yeah...that’s kind of a bummer.” he noted.
“Great, now I can’t see shit.”
“You can’t?”
“Nope. All I see is black...ah, I found the bundle of lights.”
“That’s good.”
“Yeah. Now, I just need to figure out where I’m going and find you—Shit!”
“Ah! Ouma-kun!”
Kokichi fell on top of him and they tumbled to the floor, hitting it with a loud thud. Shuichi groaned, his head pounding.
“Ugh...Ouma-kun...” he groaned out.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry! Are you okay?” Kokichi asked.
“Yeah, I think I am...” Shuichi trailed off.
“Shit. Uh, let’s try and get up, alright?”
“Yeah, that would be a good idea.”
They tried to stand only to feel something restraining them from doing so. This made Shuichi frown.
Why are we unable to get up, he asked himself.
Just then, the lights came back on. Kokichi let out a cheer.
“Yes! The power’s back on!” he declared.
Shuichi looked at him and noticed that his face was lit up by various other colored lights. He looked down, his eyes widening.
“Um...Ouma-kun?” he spoke hesitantly.
“Yeah?” Kokichi answered.
“I think we have a bigger problem on our hands...it seems to be that while we were in the dark, we got tangled up in the lights.” Shuichi told him.
“We did?” Kokichi looked down and saw that they were wrapped up in the lights, keeping Kokichi seated securely on Shuichi’s lap. “We are, indeed.” he said.
Shuichi laughed nervously.
“Yeah...” he trailed off as the door opened.
“Hey, I happened to hear a thud, so Amami-kun and I came to check up on—whoa!”
Shuichi and Kokichi turned to see Keebo with an appalled look on his face and Rantaro with a mildly surprised look on his face.
“What are you two doing tangled up in the lights like that?!” Keebo exclaimed.
“We got like this while the power was out.” Shuichi explained.
“Oh? Look at that position you two are in. How shameless.” Rantaro teased.
“What?! I’m being serious! We just wound up like this!” Shuichi exclaimed.
“I get you two are dating, but keep your PDA levels to a minimum, please.” Rantaro said before walking off.
“I said that’s not what this is!” Shuichi complained.
Kokichi giggled.
“Aw! You don’t wanna be close to me?!” he whined.
“I...I never said that—“ Kokichi burst into tears before Shuichi could finish.
“Saihara-chan doesn’t want to be close to me!” he cried out.
“I told you that’s not the case! I like being close to you! So, please stop crying!” Shuichi pleaded.
He looked over at Keebo.
“Could you please help us out of this?” he asked.
“Yeah, of course!” Keebo responded as he rushed over to them, helping them get untangled from the lights as Shuichi calmed his crying boyfriend down.
