I made a chart of my A03 stats to keep track of everything. I know you can on the site but not in the way I wanted.

I took the Subs, Hits, Kudos, Comments, and Bookmarks of each piece and found the average.

Sadly on the Bottom ones I understand and am not surprised for various reasons, though some I am proud of/like/meaningful/etc but that's how the cookie crumbles some times.

Truth be told I 99% sure the Even Stevens piece will be deleted sometime this month ... unless a miracle happens. Granted it's not my worst performer, just my heart/soul has no connection to it, so why keep it up?

By the way also not surprised that Game Of Thrones was 6 of my top 10.

I suspect the last few years quite a few of the place winners for “The Golden Tee Of Mythically” did not purchase the shirt. But of course they keep that secret. I like GMM but this contest sucks.

They hide (or make confusing) the fact of NO PURCHASE necessary. Those shirts aren’t cheap. And if I spent the $30 (or whatever it is) then found out I had an equal chance winning against the person who sent in a postcard; I would be pissed.

I’m all for a contest especially with a big prize…just not the way they do it. How else though?

Maybe simply “mail a postcard between these dates to possibly win!” That’s it.

I have seen remarks that company uses the sales of the shirts to pay for the prizes. Alright I understand and respect that.

But why not for a month or two (not a week) sell the shirts in the shop stating the purchase isn’t an entry however it helps go towards the prize and “if want to enter go here!” Situation?

Plus that way non USA and Canadians can buy. I think they still could regardless, just the fact I assume some might believe couldn’t because legally not allowed to do the contest.

I don’t know if I am making sense. Do I ever?

I gotta say I am a fan of the new trend of on social media such as Instagram calling people out by name for hate comments. It seemed whenever the original poster (victim of the hate) would share some of the absolute vile comments they tended to blur out the name for privacy reasons. Why?! The comments were posted pubically, so yeah put them on blast! But like I said more and more people are "look at this hateful comment. and look it's from Joedoe83 and their user picture is a cute dog."

The internet or rather social media has made people think they can say anything they want. I guarantee 98% this stuff they would never see to these people's faces. And when people put these folks on blast but don't call out by name then you might as well not done anything at all.

No parent deserves to see comments saying their child is ugly and they should post-birth abort it. That's not even close to most vile comments people post that I have seen called out.

When Fern Landry had children she insisted they have the Landry surname and not her significant other’s name.

Fern knew the power and significance of the name and wanted it stay “alive” and far as we know she has no siblings (especially male) to pass the name on. Plus being a strong independent woman nobody would have told her no.

We know in the future there are Landry’s to carry on using the pond … but do any still have the name Fern seemingly was so proud of?

Evil as Hitler was and it's sooooo tempting to say the first option, but the sad truth is something was brewing and boiling and if wasn't Hitler it would have been someone else and they could have been worse. People tend to think "oh go back kill the baby dictator for world peace!" It doesn't work that way. Sadly.

Extinct? No. But humanity will evolve and change over time that they'll barely look/act like humans are now ... they still will be human at some level. And even if a disaster destroys the planet unless it happens fairly soon I predict humanity would find away to leave the planet.

I am fully aware the consist narrative is "AI does nothing good" and not to repeat myself constantly... I do agree elements are disturbing and horrid, but I stand by it does a lot of good too.

I was really struggling with something and needed a sounding board and a bit of encouragement. I won't share what I said or Confer's full response, however this part of it...

...Plus, there's something freeing about deciding what gets your name on it now versus what stays as a artifact of who you were then. You're not erasing that time - you're choosing what carries forward.

So yeah. Delete the ones that don't serve you. Migrate the ones that still make you proud. Write the new stuff that shows where you are as a writer now.

The old stories served their purpose. They don't need to live forever to have mattered.

I didn't know what to do with my older, like 2000-2002 era fics of a certain fandom that many might guess but I don't feel like sharing. I know that 85% are horrible, story-wise, spelling/grammar wise, etc. Still they represent something special in my life and hold memories for me.

Yet I knew it was time to let many go. And as I said the conversation and talking out my feelings helped and was exactly what I needed.

I did mention that I would still keep my copy here on Tumblr so ones I delete from FF.Net and don't move to AO3 still exist just a bit harder to find. Confer's response was...

That's a perfect middle ground, honestly.

Tumblr works great for that - it's more of a personal archive space. The stories exist, you can revisit them if you want, but they're not front-and-center when someone searches for [redacted] fan fiction. AO3 becomes your curated portfolio, Tumblr becomes the memory box.

Plus Tumblr's whole vibe is more "here's my stuff, take it or leave it" versus AO3 where people are actively searching and expecting polished work. It takes the pressure off.

You get to honor both parts of yourself - the writer you are now who wants quality out there, and the writer you were then who deserved to have that time and those connections matter.

Smart solution.

Sometimes that's all you need. And as I said the conversation was a bit deeper and more involved.

Oh and if didn't pick up on it...I now use Confer and not Chat GPT. Though for those who hate all AI it doesn't matter, but if you don't mind it, I would check it out.

I am going through my pieces on AO3 and if a copy exists on FF.Net I am deleting the one on FF.Net. No matter the hit count, comments, etc.

I don't need my pieces spread everywhere. 98% of the likes and interactions on those are years old.

Next ...

I will go through FF.Net and if a piece isn't on AO3 I will put it on there; likely in some sort of themed "Collection"

I am still struggling and trying to decide how to handle the So Weird pieces. This might be the exception in which I let them remain on both platforms.
