Soooo… Feeling lucky? How much you’ll end up writing for this crawl will depend a lot on a random number generator. Depending on how quickly you write and how (un)lucky you are, this may take a while! (If you’re looking for a random number generator, here it is: https://www.random.org/ 69)
To start you off, generate a number between 1 and 20. That is the number of minutes you’ll have to sprint. How many times? We’ll see.
If your number was between 1 and 5 , generate a number between 1 and 50.
If it’s between 5 and 15 , generate a number between 1 and 25.
If it’s between 15 and 20 , I’ll be nice. Ish. Generate a number between 1 and 10.
Next up, go to the Writing Challenges forum. Look at the bars at the top and see how many threads there are in this category. (it will say, for example, writing challenges x75). Generate a number between 1 and that amount. You may reroll indefinitely if you keep hitting (long) crawls!
(Considering the amount of counting in this step is absolute baloney - you may also scroll around the list for a while and randomly stop somewhere.)
Then, generate a number between 1 and 50. Do that many 100 word sprints.
Next, generate a number between 1 and 30. That is your number of 1 minute sprints . Then, generate a number between 1 and whatever wpm you’re comfortable with (NOT your top speed unless you want to have a really hard time!) . The number you land on is your goal for the sprints. If you fail to get to it, keep trying! Keep going until you have your number of sprints at or over your goal.
Next, generate a number between 5 and 60. Attempt to write 1000 words in that number of minutes. If you fail, retry three times before moving on.
Generate a number between 1 and 5 . Write that many thousand words.
Generate a number between 1 and 1000 and attempt to write that much in under 20 minutes. If you fail, finish at your own pace.
As a last step, Generate a number between 1 and 10,000. Write that many words in however long it takes you!
BONUS ROUND! (Do any or all of these as you wish!)
Write 100 words. Then, roll a 6-sided die (or generate a number between 1 and 6). If it’s a 6, move on to the next step. If it’s not a 6, write 200 words. Then roll again. continue using the same rules (keep adding 100 words on top of the goal) until you either roll a 6, or have to write 3000 words because the random number generator or die is just that rude to you. (it made me go up to 2400 once >_>)
Generate a number between 1 and 100. Do that many song sprints.
Bonus suggestion by Mr E, inc: Looking for MORE or a challenge? How about a time limit?
Choose the number of days you think you could probably complete this crawl in. Generate a number between 1 and that number . This is the number of days you have to complete the crawl to GOLD STAR. If the crawl is not done in that many days, you get a SILVER STAR.
Gold star: Awesome! Post a message in the thread so we can all congratulate you!
Silver star: Good job! Generate a number between 1 and 5 and do that many 5 minute word sprints, THEN brag in this thread!
we’re taking a break in my dnd session and someone keeps playing the gun sound effect but i’m never looking at discord when they do so i have no idea who it is
Eva was humming along, dicing up some things while Thatch was working on a sauce. She looked over at the chef and chewed on her bottom lip, contemplating something she had been thinking of for a bit in the back of her mind. When he invited her to cook and learn a recipe or two from him, did he know what day he asked her to come? What it was? Was this… was this a date? If it was, then what she felt tempted to do would make sense. If not, then what she was about to do would make her feel foolish. With a deep breath, the young woman tapped Thatch on the shoulder until he turned to her. “H-Happy Valentines Day Thatch,” and on tiptoe, she went to plant a kiss on his cheek… only with the height difference even with her stretching she only got to his jawline. Well, that is embarrassing. Eva felt her cheeks heat up at her how badly she missed her target her lips were going for, and quickly went back to cutting up vegetables to distract herself and hide her face.
