Shipwreck was her home and it felt cold. An unfair observation, when “home” was meant to be a place of warmth, comfort and safety, the word immediately invoking the appropriate imagery; and when the people of the island were nothing but pleasant to the lady, no ill will reflected in their eyes.
They waved at her, same as before and they smiled at her, same as before. They gave Morgan no reason to feel any less than the noble creature she was, yet places and realities erstwhile joyous felt distant, blurry, part of a world now too small for her.
Morgan loved it all but she still dreamed of the great blue. How could she return to leading an insular life now that she had had a taste of the vast sea? It was folly to think life could just resume as if she had never seen more than Shipwreck’s dark crown and lush greenery, even if all the pieces remained untouched.
Not one to drown her woes in alcohol, and on a mission to cope with the loss of the crew she’d grown accustomed to and loved, Morgan cheered herself up the best way she knew — with no other company where company was due, she visited the local boutiques and ordered for dresses to be confectioned and hats and boots to be delivered to her address.
(That at least saved her the trouble of flaunting a myriad of bags as she roamed the streets or go fetch a member of the staff to carry them for her. A silent man doing as he was bid was not the type of fellowship she fancied right now.)
She needed a friendly shoulder to talk to. To cry on, metaphorically speaking, for God forbid her great sadness to become of public knowledge! Though humble enough not to question what He had decided would be her fate and honourable enough to take responsibility for her own wrongdoings and what they impacted; there was this pride to Morgan, as shared by all Carnahans, that prevented her from absolutely accepting there could be nought but pretty frocks and expensive rocks in store for her.
This pool of never-ending, unwavering conceit that came with what some called stubbornness, others fierceness, demanded more of life itself for little reason other than intense wanting.
A strange thing. As Black Bones, Morgan had endured the hardships a life at sea offered — the duty to keep the men in line and satisfied, quarrels with forces of supposed authority, keeping her identity and body safe and sound — yet she could recollect no moment, save for the very last, where she had felt so weary as she did now, after politely rejecting a loyal customer’s perk for the tenth time.
She ran a hand through her hair and decided a drink was in order. Once used to keeping it to social drinking, her male persona had developed a taste for an extra goblet hitherto unable to shake off and, as the prospect of a good headache surfaced on the horizon, Morgan decided it was time for a drink. One other than tea, that is. Stronger.
They said alcohol could cure sadness but, fortunately, the lady was too smart to believe most popular sayings about medicine and would blatantly reject the notion of losing her composure and allowing her lofty chin down because of it. Thus, one serving would do.
The first think her blue eyes acknowledged when she entered the establishment was the woman behind the bar. She knew her well enough though the other, if asked, would swear she did not know Milady Morgan any more than her patrons did. But that is a story for another time.
Even that one contributed to Morgan’s unhappy state as she recalled the days she had spent polishing her maiden edges to piratical perfection. Such sacrifice... and what bloody for?
The old woman perked up at the sight of the young one and quickly poured whisky into a clear glass instead of a tankard for finesse. Morgan took it and sought an empty table. For the time being, she just wanted to have the drink descend her throat leaving a burning track and postpone all feelings, let alone decisions for the future.
With another attentive look she took note of the women present, always fewer in number than their male counterparts and twice more interesting to her eyes.
This enthrallment had nothing to do with love nor lust. Pirates came in all sorts and this much was true of the female ones as well. Some looked menacing as beasts, others no more than teenage rascals no one would give much credit to but they all looked like they were living a life of adventure to its fullest and that, the power they emitted, would always captivate Morgan and appeal to her militant side.
Her eyes stopped at a woman looking downwards as though nothing could be more interesting than her table’s surface when in fact she tried little to appear like she had her life sorted. Morgan could not recall seeing her around. She was no native — that was a given.
Glass in her hand and a yet neutral expression on her face, Morgan said ❝ You are lost. ❞ By the way she spoke, she would not let the other woman counter her declaration or so much pretend she belonged.

For every “🐾” I receive I’ll tell a headcanon I have about a pet my muse had in the past/currently has!
//Kerberos sometimes scares himself if he accidentally barks too loud. He’ll also start crying if he farts too loud, which he does often.
“Why is everyone giving me nasty stares?”
Small-Town Gothic Sentence Starters ( @universaleva )
Everyone stared with suspicion, disgust, all the lovely expressions one would make. Michi didn’t care, he embraced the stares, he deserved them. The woman on the other hand, maybe, maybe not. “Maybe they never have seen a woman before.” The Hound joked as a pair of black eyes aimed towards the female. His stare, piercing, taking in every curve of her body, every scar, he mostly enjoyed the scars on peoples bodies.
“Or maybe they know something you don’t.” An ominous chuckle came from the Hound as he reached his hand to place it down on top of the woman’s head. The tips of his claws curled towards the skin of her scalp. A warning or a bad attempt at petting her head.
“What do you think? Why are they staring?” He asked, perhaps out of curiosity or to simply get out her thoughts.

Amy smiled innocently, looking at the soaked girl “Life is disappointing?,, she reached out, her hand covered securely with a velvet glove "Sweetie, come along with me. I won’t kick you out, it’s spaceous and Im sure the girls have something dry to substitute,, she gracefully made a circle pointing at the girls wet clothes "this,,
“T-thank you,” Eva nodded and took her hand, “A-anything to get out of this c-cold,” she followed, unsure where they were going, but hoping it was a safe enough place to wait for the storm to pass.
When the woman said, “the girls” she was curious what she meant. Perhaps they were her sisters? Her desire for warmth made her questions minimal though, and the promise of dry clothes was too good to pass up.
“I’m Eva by t-the way,” the young woman thought it best to at least introduce herself, blowing into her free hand to try and warm it up. As she followed, Eva took a good look at the person assisting her to get a better idea perhaps of who she was.

“Yeah,” she said with a bit of a sad tone when Nami mentioned the all too relatable feeling of everything being fine, and then it all being swept away in chaos. She was so lost in her thoughts, Eva didn’t realize Nami was putting something on her till she was dabbing it on her face, making her jump a little. “Oh! U-um, no I haven’t, and I usually just do a clear lipgloss to add a small bit of shine,” she admitted, feeling a bit odd having something rubbed all over her face. “What does this stuff do exactly?”

“Well, it wasn’t that hard for me romantically,” she said as she poured the bowl into the large one, ”I broke up with my last boyfriend a month ago before I was engaged.”
“However, I think the hardest actual part was the fact that I had to be a full-time member of the Big Mom Pirates,” she said, ”Which means I couldn’t be with my family all the time like before.”
universaleva:
Eva’s pouring of her half faltered a bit at how the other said it wasn’t a problem romantically. She just... couldn’t ever find the idea of an arranged marriage something to be okay with. If she was to be with someone, she wanted to love them, and they love her in return. “At least things turned out alright for you. I couldn’t imagine being arranged to spend the rest of my life with someone and there being no love between us...”
The mention of the Big Mom Pirates did send a small shudder through her and even faltered her mixing. “Now the Big Mom part being difficult, I can definitely understand. Oh!” She quickly covered her mouth and looked to the other woman with a bit of worry, “I am so sorry, that was rude of me to say.” Whether it was hard for the other woman or not, the Big Mom Pirates were her family, and Eva feared she may have said something insulting that would lead to retribution. “I-it came out wrong.”
Trying to change the subject fast, she offered the bowl to Absinthe, “W-wanna finish the mixing? I’ll make sure those ramekins are ready.”
