Childhood - Adam/Fergus (TTOI)
The last thing Adam remembers is Fergus bringing him home from DoSAC and putting him to bed.
He hates getting sick. He feels useless, and sore, and grumpy. And lonely. Fergus didn’t even stay with him, he realises as he looks around his bedroom.
But then Fergus walks through the door, sleeves rolled up, no tie, and his grey work shirt splattered with sauce. “I remembered you telling me your mum used to make you tomato soup with a cheese toastie when you were sick…”
Adam feels seven again, but the for the first time, not in a bad way.
Kick in the head - Thomas & the Captain (BBC Ghosts)
“Well,” Thomas announces to the otherwise silent room where the Captain had been resting his eyes, “that’s just a kick in the head, isn’t it!”
The Captain sighs, eyes opening. The sooner Thorne forgets about that Dean Martin night at the hotel a few weeks ago, the better.
“The guests have to leave eventually, Thomas.” the Captain mutters, sleepily.
“I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“I wasn’t sleeping,” the Captain snaps. Thomas’s shoulders just slump further. “Perhaps you’d join me on my rounds?” he asks, just because he feels bad, and not to enjoy the bright smile Thomas gives him.
Starvation - Pat/Cap (BBC Ghosts)
“God, pork pies… little quiches…”
The Captain watches as Pat peruses the buffet tables, admiring the spread. Turns out children's parties are a Button House thing after all. Honestly, the Captain prefers weddings, but the sound of children laughing is growing on him.
“I know we can’t actually get hungry, but suddenly I’m starving!”
“What’s your favourite party food, Pat?” the Captain asks, indulgently.
He watches adoringly as Pat’s face lights up as he tells the Captain about picnics and his favourite foods. It might not be starvation in the traditional sense, but the Captain thinks he understands the sentiment.
