closed starter for: theano eluwe & nuray altinsoy || @prophcsy place: at a balcony on the feast time: near the end of the feast
The night had passed rather quickly, in comparison to the ball in Moira Castle, yet for all that Theano had begun to hope for a night without oddities, there is an undeniable gloom weighing on the edges of the feast. Firuze Altinsoy’s death hung above all those who had known the sunwalker, the news a blow to all velkynar from Heliophra. For a loss in their ruling house is a loss for all, as it can demonstrate a weakening in their political positioning and that just could not do. And that is without even beginning to touch on the grief that the Altinsoy would have to hold back while partaking on the ritual.
Theano does not doubt that the choice to stay had been calculated to show a strong face, as she does not doubt that the decision had been a hard one to make. The Eluwe remained whole, none of their scions touched by death, but if it had been one of them? If it had been their younger sibling or Silas? Theano does not know how she would have reacted. Does not know if she would have made the same hard choices Lady Nuray is making to ensure the safety of her house. She would like to think she would, but this is something she cannot know without experiencing it first hand, and she prays she never experiences such a thing.
Such thoughts weigh on her throughout the night, and during one of the lulls in conversation, she finds herself making her way to one of the empty balconies to rest away from the party for a brief moment. Resting against the railing with a drink in hand, she takes a measured sip as she considers the darkness outside, only to settle her drink on the railing itself when she hears the doors behind her open once more.
“Lady Nuray,” she says, surprise threading through her words as she notices the other at the balcony’s entrance. “Please do join me, my lady, I was enjoying the night sky and I would not mind the company.”
It’s an invitation, subtle as it is, for the other to step out of the party for a moment. Not for anything relating to their last conversation, even if it does remain on her mind, but simply because if she were in her shoes, Theano would likely want a few moments of respite before returning to the crowds.
