Gellert Grindelwald playing the violin in Nurmengard
Gellert Grindelwald and Vinda Rosier, the rose garden of Nurmengard.
Edit inspired by a lovely thread with the amazing @corda-comminuta
Does anyone know the name of the grindeldore fic, where gellert is in prison already and its like canon just that Albus visits him sometimes, but it's mostly just gellert alone thinking about and realizing what he did.
I want to reread it but don't find it :(.
It's basically just a Grindelwald prison redemption fic with Dumbledore as a guest star. And I need it.
I’m starting to think either nobody monitors the security--as jankey as it is in places--at Nurmengard anymore or, if they do they sort of look at any alarms going off and go with, “This is above my pay grade.”
I mean, it’s nothing bad, necessarily, but one would think someone might poke their head in when an entire wing goes dead.
Briefly.
I still put the old security back up over the--it’s not even a shell, it’s just how I remembered the shape before turning it to dust--so maybe they do look, see it’s ‘there’ and move on?
All I know is nobody’s been out here to look around and nobody who knows I’m here has mentioned anything.
The wings that have been taken down are empty anyway, anything that was in them I figured out (through various contacts in various markets) who the items belonged to, if they were still alive--and if not who their next of kin might be--and got them all returned before taking that part of the building down.
And before anyone gets on me for that, if it’d been up to me, I’d leave the whole place standing; it’s really well built, it just wasn’t well maintained for awhile, but it’s a thing, so it’s slowly coming down.
poor thing...
poor thing...
[My Birthday, on the eve of October, y'all know what that means....
...spoopy shameless OC time!]
if only she turned around...
Grindelwald's Death
Kronburg Castle in Austria (note: not Kronborg Castle in Denmark) vs. Nurmengard
Earlier today I was browsing on Google Maps and came across this old castle in the Austrian Alps that I thought bore a pretty remarkable resemblance to the design for Nurmengard in DH and CoG.
Anyone who knows more than I do about Austrian architecture (i.e., anything) - is this design for a tower common, or could this spot have been an inspiration for the design in the movie?
sorry but did you just sit down on the stairs somewhere to answer your boss?
A better question is, “Do you have any idea how many stairs there are in this place? You’ll die of exhaustion before you can count them all is a number if you don’t have the design prints is, in fact, a number.”
And before you ask, it wasn’t a tower I’ve been up before so I couldn’t apparate without risking splinching myself into who knows what?
It was as close to laying on stairs as one can get without starting to slide down them.
Anyway, it wasn’t empty--I mean, there wasn’t another person up in this one, it’s just full of stuff. Reminds me of an attic.
