The weekend from hell is officially over.
What the fuck Friday the 13th???
So, I’ve just started a new job last week and I’ve been shadowing the other nurses. I’ve only shadowed TWO night shifts and I’ve been left to fly solo on my 3rd night, with half my team being made up of agency staff. Good job I don’t have imposter syndrome anymore (lol, I always have imposter syndrome)
Went in to check on my very confused elderly patient and Me: Maybe we can get you more comfortable so you can get some sleep. :) Him: I can't sleep. Me: You can't sleep? Him: And I'm horny. Me: ...You're WHAT? Him: *grabbing frantically at torso* I'm covered in horns! I swear to god, y'all, keeping a straight face is the hardest part of this profession sometimes.
Ooooof course my first night as charge, we have to call RRT on someone. Better than having to code someone, though. Thankful for the little things.
Calling the doc on my new admit with a trop of 0.9... Doc: Why was this patient not admitted to critical care? Me: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Aaaand my confused patient pulled her Foley out. Whyyyyyyyyy
When I get a coude catheter in on the first try when all the other nurses on the floor couldn't I'm like #weinerqueen
I am so glad I have the next few nights off because tonight has been frustrating. I am the only nurse who isn't training an orientee (therefore the only one who doesn't have extra help) and somehow I started out (and am ending) with the largest team and all the fresh post-ops. Okay, dude. Sounds totally fair. Y'all have fun tonight cause I'm not gonna be here.
