Today we’re doing some epidemiology and some nursing research.

In epidemiology we’re learning the difference between incidence and prevalence. I’m working on discussion boards rhat are insightful, have sources, and will contribute to my knowledge base (and the knowledge base of my classmates). I love to go a little over the top on my discussion boards - the imposter syndrome drives me to sound intelligent and well-read.

Specifically, this week, I’m talking about the prevalence of COPD in my home state of Pennsylvania and how that data can be used to benefit patients and residents.

In research we’re looking over the changes from APA6 to APA7. We’re also discussing ethics, one of my favorite topics.

Prepping for the upcoming semester with some “Financial Accounting for Dummies” and my Plum Paper notebook.

This paper is so thick and smooth, it’s practically orgasmic. None of my pens or highlighters bleed or ghost and you get that lovely imprint of your pen marks as you write so the paper get just the slightest bit textured as it’s used.

If anybody wanted to know what my personality is, it’s iced coffee, antidepressants, and bad love poems.

It’s running around caring for other people all day long.

It’s late nights hunched over a desk praying that I’m giving up my sleep not because I want to but because I can change the field I work in if I just work a little harder.

It’s dreaming and committing to a cause and recommitting to a cause and aligning myself with people and organizations fighting the same fight.

It’s becoming a master of nursing.

The commitment is insane this week.

I’ve been trying to get healthy for several years and it’s been hard. Part of the struggle was finding time to meet my academic goals while also finding time to hit the gym.

So I’ve started combining the two - hitting my reading from the treadmill instead of from my desk.

It’s crazy and a year ago I’d never have done something like this. But I need to get better and be better. So this is just the start.
