okay, i got the Thinklabs One stethescope. it’s not like any you’ve used before, and i hesitated buying it forever, because of it’s cost (it cost the same as i got my first (very cheap) car for 15 years ago.) But i got a completion bonus at work and I decided i’d put that money to something worth-while. And boy is it.
This audio is a-ma-zhing. i’ve only just received it, and so i tested it out on myself, heart, lungs, and stomach sounds, but for someone hard of hearing who has always strained to hear sounds in the best of conditions (and has had to call in backups to “hear what i’m hearing” just to check, in the worst)- this thing is phenomenal. it’s not a “stethescope” per se, but an electronic listening device- it’s got a skin piece (think: bell/diaphragm) that filters the Hz for what you’re listening for (low for heart, high for lung, and it didn’t give instruction to filter for abd sounds, so i fooled around and found one mid-high that i could hear on myself). it has 5 different Hz settings, and you can pick your two favorites (so pick what you hear best for, i picked one that i hear heart-abd best and the one that’s clearest on lungs (which i also heard heart just fine with). The sound- doesn’t sound mechanical or processed, i have it on a low volume and it’s plenty loud with the included earbuds. It charges by USB (they claim once-twice a week depending on how heavy you use it, and the usb cord also has a wall plug included). It has a sleep timer set for 2 minutes, but you can change that to up to 10 minutes or turn it off completely (its easy and quick to wake up during assessment if it turns off while you’re listening). It comes in a foam clamshell zippered carrying case that would fit into my cargo scrub pocket.
I would buy this thing again, and i would recommend to buy it to anyone. (not a spokesperson, not being benefited in any way for this review, just really fucking excited about this new toy)
