Midnight blue Black Magic by @shabazzlarkin For hundreds of years, the identity of black people has been under attack. What was once the mother of all humanity, being black has become it’s taboo. This series, entitled BLACK MAGIC, is a declaration: To be black is to be beyond the understanding of this earth. The series attempts to capture the magical mysteries of the black experience through portraits inspired by the concept of Afrofuturism, which is to see black people, not as the oppressed but as anything we want to be. Some of these images are an homage and interpretation of the Mali-born photographer, Seydou Keïta - known for capturing portraits of families and everyday people. #blackmagic #blackhistory #afrofuturism #strangeobsession #nuthnlab
