How to use Hydroponic Nutrient Solutions
Nutrient solutions play an essential part in plant growth. Plants get all the required nutrients from the water, air, medium, and fertilizers. So, if you want to get the best yield out of your crops then you would want an adequate nutrient mixture. There are various nutrients in nature that support plant growth and plant health. The major of them are carbon, magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, etc. One thing important to understand is that increasing the nutrient supply will not ensure a good yield but can be damaging to your plants.
Let’s understand nutrient solutions now.
Hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon can easily be found through water and air that you provide your plants with. There is a nutrient kit called the N-P-K mix. From this kit, you will get Nitrogen, Potassium, and Phosphorus besides this magnesium and sulfur can be found from Epsom salt. So now, you don’t have to worry about the nutrient supply much. You just have to worry about providing these nutrients in only required amounts to your plants.
1. Always read the instructions given on the nutrient kit thoroughly, they should give you the gist of it.
2. Never use these nutrients wildly as they can damage your crop roots, waste money, and pollute the land.
3. Excessive supplies of nutrients can imbalance the ph level and chemical composition of the soil. This can be bad for current and upcoming crops.
4. Always keep a check on your crops for symptoms of diseases and deficiencies. Then work in order to benefit your plants, you may also take advice from experts in the field.
5. Use a fertilizing machine if you have long fields. However, a sprayer can work if you don’t have much land to grow crops.
Maintaining pH
Different plants are grown at different levels. Some plants require an alkaline environment whilst others need acidic and the remaining need neutral. So, depending upon the type of crop always maintain the correct pH balance.
Excessive nutrient supply
Excessive nutrient supply can fight against your crops giving worse results. The roots of plants are quite sensitive to the environment they are exposed to. Just like excessive irrigation can damage roots, excessive nutrient supply can alter the requirements of fruit.
Stage of Plant
At different stages, plants need different nutrient mixtures. At the growing stage, they need more strength towards themselves, like their branches and their stem. At the blooming stage when all the focus is on flowering and fruit production.
