While undertaking a hike of the surrounding area, he stumbles upon a mysterious stone circle that seems to call to him... In the sixth century, King Arthur Pendragon finds a young, confused man in the woods. Even though the stranger doesn’t speak Britonnic, he immediately makes it clear that he thinks Arthur and his knights are a bunch of prats… Displaced in time and burdened with an unexpected new gift, Merlin needs to find his way back home. Summary: Arthur is having a terrible day full of bad news, misfortune and a mouthy and irritating manservant. Strangely enough, it’s a rather surprising altercation with said irritating manservant that turns the day around and soon, Arthur is convinced that having Merlin in his bed is the remedy to cure all his horrible days…

Written for mega_mathi for her prompt: Manservant with Benefits.The story definitely has “lots and lots of sex” with “no feelings” (yeah, right!), but I couldn’t fit Jealous Arthur in. I hope you still enjoy it, mathi!

Why I love this fic:

This fic is a fucking gem and I couldn’t love it more. It’s got Arthur being his usual oblivious self, sometimes not even in a lovable way! The pacing of the fic is fantastic, the buildup, Arthur’s realization of why exactly the days he sleeps with Merlin are good days. It’s all just so lovely and the climax (heh, not that one) just gave me all the soft feelings and I just love it a lot <3<3

Basically, if you’re a fan of Arthur and Merlin being oblivious clotpoles, sleeping together and still somehow not catching onto their feelings for a good portion of the fic I would H I G H L Y rec this fic for you!

Merlin made a sound somewhere between a laugh and a sob and then he was there, all but flinging himself in Arthur’s arms, warm skin and sharp angles.

“You clotpole,” he exhaled and Arthur could feel Merlin’s wide grin against the side of his neck. His body relaxed, his muscles untensing as he slid his own arms around Merlin’s back, holding him close, breathing in the scent of Merlin’s hair.

It was enough, he thought, his heart feeling finally soothed. This was good. It was a good day.
