Substance Analysis Report

Substance: Unknown

Substance Identification: Shatter

Initial Report: The solution was obtained after an attack on Nighean Dorcha, member of Nevermorn. Another mixture of the same solution seems to have been used on another attempted attack on Nighean at the residence of Aelwyn.

Initial Findings: A mixture of the solution with a vine created by life aether, resulted in the rapid and aggressive growth of the vine. The vine grew and attacked that of a void tainted target until the target was killed. The second mixture missed the intended target but landed on a sapling in Aelwyn’s yard. A tree grew in the same rapid and aggressive manner.

Test conducted:

Tree: Attempts to use void magic against it resulted in the tree growing more rapidly and the roots digging deeper into the ground.  Attempts to cut off branches or roots, resulted in them growing back two-fold. Final removal of the tree was obtained by syphoning through the flow of life aether until the tree decayed and finally died.

Vine Basic Solution:

Three tests were conducted on the vine and shatter solution mix. A half an Im of the vine.

The first was a mixture of life aether and the solution. No measurable results.

The second was that of the mixture of Shatter and a drop of void tainted blood. Results were similar to the initial report. Rapid and aggressive growth of the vine. Though limited to 1.2 Fulm in length. To ensure that the solution was now inert, a second drop of blood was added to the preexisting vine. Again the vine grew rapidly and aggressively, merging with the infirmary desk. This time the vine stopped its growth at 3.4 Fulm.

The Third test was the addition of a void tainted crystal shard. The volume of void taint would be considerable in its potency of void aether. Consistent with that of a cup of void tainted blood. After the second test, we hypothesized that the vine would simply grow beyond the desk.

After adding the shard to the Shatter Solution, the results, at first were the same as the second test. Rapid and aggressive growth of the vine silver. However, the desk seemed to be affected as well resulting in new grow elsewhere on the wood of the desk. Spotted growth and blooming flowers that should not be possible from a dead piece of wood, let alone a desk. The growth of the initial vine was that of 1.2 Yalm with new growth varying from 1 lm to 3.3 Ims.

Micro-examination of solution:

The structure of the solution is very similar to that of organized biomechanical elements I have seen before in the blood solution that was brought to me from Azys Lla . However the structure of the solution is purely organic and nothing mechanical.  Further examination of the solutions bindings and construction suggest that the solution is made of microscopic unaspected crystals that have been made into a purified and stable liquid form.

The solution uses the addition of a base element or aetherial signature to create a syphoning agent. Void aether is a catalyst that results in the rapid and aggressive growth of the syphoning agent. The solution then takes void aether, purifies it and transmutes the aether into that of the syphoning element added to the solution. The solution is active until the void source catalyst is used up.

Summary:

There is no known technology or advancement in alchemy to explain the origin or creation of the Shatter solution. This suggests something from Allagan or Imperial experimentations.

Shatter is a void purifying agent without discrimination. A stable liquid form of unaspected crystals that transmutes void aether into pure aether of the bonding element or base aether of the syphoning form.

Recommendations:

Findings of the solution will be made available to the Alchemist Guild in Ul’dah for further examination with registered and restricted personnel.

An investigation of Azys Lla ’s bioengineering terminals is suggested.

If more of this solution can be obtained and recreated, a possible void taint cure could be obtained. Though it must be refined and restricted to have limited active time. @nigheandorcha  @scrap-cat
