It was something he had envisioned quite often if he were honest. The world burnt to a crisp around him, dust of the remains fluttering through the air. Much like it was now. Gotham was set aflame before them, or at least, a portion of it. Damien needed some place to start from, a city to start anew so that the world may follow through soon enough. Given Star City’s seeming redemption, a place such as Gotham City was an easy enough alternative. The city practically destroyed itself anyways, if anything, he was doing them all a favour.
Damien’s icy eyes were peering to the hand that had latched onto his wrist, narrowing slightly at the sight. Most were particularly cautious in his presence, yet this sudden change in the Riddler’s demeanour was quite an intriguing one. And this intrigue was what kept him alive.
The man’s gaze turned back to the flickering flames before them, a sly smile upon his lips. The only kind of smile that seemed to belong there. “Change of heart, have we?” He spoke at last, his tone a light and eerie calm. Despite the destruction before him, despite the anger that he felt from the other man’s comment, Damien remained in a chilled calm. It made him appear apathetic.
As the Riddler moved his hand away, Damien instinctively moved to adjust the cuff of his sleeve, eyes still peering ahead at the flames. They had gotten so far just for another setback. It made a sense of frustration begin to well up within his chest, causing his jaw to clench slightly. Unlike the followers and ‘allies’ he had within Star City, Damien had no one’s life to threaten to bend the other man to his will. It was more so he had to work around his wants in order to gain his benefit.
Though he’d certainly admit that the power such a statement suggested was almost intoxicating to him. “And may I ask, what exactly you plan to do with such power?” Damien inquired smoothly, glancing at the other with a raised brow.
