His brow was furrowed, and his fists were clenched. Amber eyes swept over the collapsed shelter they'd erected last night and the scraped, bruised body of his brother. 

          "What happened?" Mako's voice was            nearly a growl. If someone had tried            to hurt Bolin while he was gone... His            hands warmed just at the thought.

Mako had a rule about drinking... And he'd broken it tonight. His vision was blurry, and the room swam uncontrollably. He stumbled to his feet, shoes scraping across the rough wood of the attic floor.

          "Shhhou know what," he slurred, the whiskey            in his hand sloshing onto the rug. "You knows            about the..." Amber eyes wandered around the            tiny apartment, landing on something to blame            for his irritation. "... the... couch." He kicked at            the furniture, catching himself on the wall.
