          IT WASN'T UNCOMMON for professors to pair their students up for certain lessons or subjects, especially those that pertained to honing abilities---baekhyun had lived in the academy long enough, had attended enough classes to become accustomed to the specific routine (but that doesn't mean he particularly liked it, though.)

because, you see, byun baekhyun wholeheartedly supported self-sufficiency---blame it on his continuous obsession with henry thoreau's novel walden or not, but the male wasn't exactly keen on the whole.. teamwork concept that xavier's so persistently projected. and no matter how much he could kick or screem or whine, his opinion didn't necessarily matter when he was attending their school.

and thus, he was forced to push aside his own wants and needs to abide to the mental mastery teacher's instructions as politely as possible. standing across from his assigned partner, he just briefly gave her a nod before holding out his hand for an introduction. "i'm baekhyun.” (nxmsunyoung)

monday morning madness, sunyoung.

It’s far too early in the morning—nine-ish, he’d say if he had to make a guess—for anyone to be awake and be sane at the same time. (At least, that’s what he believes.) But lo and behold, here he is in nothing but his sweatpants, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He glares angrily at the clock, unhappy to be rudely awaken by the bad dream/memory he had (but at this point, he knows it’s futile to go to sleep, especially with the dream fresh in his memory).

So he gets up, his hands stretching while he yawns tiredly. He supposes he could run down to the canteen to get some breakfast, or maybe he could go for a morning jog and actually take this school seriously (because despite what his mom thinks about him coming to this school, he’s only doing it so he can learn to protect her better).

He goes about his morning routine and while he’s brushing his teeth, he hears a bump in the hallway. It’s weird, he thinks, because on a Monday morning, the boy’s dorm is usually dead quiet, what with the intense Sunday night partying, some having to go for classes and the rest already midway through their morning jog. Confused and curious, he slaps his cap on—an attempt to tame the bed hair he’s sporting, honestly—then opens the door to the hallway, his curious expression turning to one of disbelief when he spots what’s causing the commotion.

On the ceiling is a glimpse into what seems to be anything but the sky (which is what he would expect to see if there were a random hole in the ceiling). Surrounding the picture is what appears to be bright purple glob, haphazardly wrapped around the hole big enough for a person to fit. He walks further out until he’s right underneath the bizarre sight, eyes widening when he recognises what’s on the other side; he swears it’s part of the school, but looking at it in this context, he can’t seem to remember what.

It doesn’t take too long for word to spread around a group of people, and when that group is a campus full of young adults, many of whom are outside the wombs of their families for the first time, there are certain details about people that get around faster than fleas on dogs. 

Or bacteria on a corpse. 

Of course, even if Jaehwan is apt in using those less than pleasant comparisons, that doesn’t mean the rumors - or in this case the truth - that get around are always bad. Today’s rumor of interest on Jaehwan’s mind happens to be the insight into a particular young woman’s life. Her name is Park Sunyoung as he’s been informed, and she’s from a well off family. An extremely well off family. Heiress material even. 

If it didn’t look stupid Jaehwan would probably be rubbing his hands together in glee, so he settles for the mental image of his satisfaction instead. Because being the optimistic individual that he is, Jaehwan likes to think he has a chance in getting this lovely spoiled little thing to go out with him. It certainly helps that she’s pretty as well, but really, Jaehwan will probably date anything if it means making himself connections and bettering his standing in the world’s social ladders. 

So, with objective in mind, and holding onto the rumor that this particular student is single, Jaehwan approaches Park Sunyoung when he chances upon seeing her alone. Out on a bench in the sunshine of the later morning, busy with her phone, Jaehwan gently and unobtrusively sits himself down on the other end of the bench. For a while, he does say anything to her, going for casual and unaffected even if her perfume - or is it a scented shampoo? - is really quite a lovely aroma to breathe in among the trees behind them. 

He waits only a few minutes like that though, before he leans in closer towards her and voices the line that comes to mind and will surely charm her into giving him attention. 

“I don’t think you're going to find the number that you’re looking for in there,” he says while she’s still busy with her phone. “After all, I don’t think we’ve exchanged contacts yet, now have we?”
