Everyone probably knows what’s really hiding behind the secret door of that Dunkin Donut-looking coffee place. Especially because it is not very common to see bouncers checking your ID to get a donut. The dark room offers magnificent cocktails prepared with taste and creativity by a picky team. And yes, there is a tub. 9th St, between 18th and 19th St.

FEAST
For food philanthropists. Feast concept is to share a series of medium-sized exquisite dishes with someone you love, or a whole table of friends. Despite its two floors, the place struggles to comply with demand, so book ahead and arrive on time. You can even come a little bit early and enjoy the original cocktails almost entirely homemade (see above fruit syrups). 3rd Ave, between 12th and 13th St.

GROUND CENTRAL
You gotta love the pun! This cafe is the living proof that size doesn’t matter. Excellent pastries and coffee, though a tad over-priced, in a minuscule location. The music is lovingly selected by the owners among his vinyl collection presented right when you get in. Two locations, the uptown one is bigger (52nd St, between 2nd and 3rd Ave). The other is on 2nd Ave, between 41st and 42nd St but all the closeby UN workforce knows that place, so avoid rush hours.

DOOB
Named after the revolutionary technology enabling the 3D printing of basically anyone (or anything for that matter). Think babies dogs, drones... any moving part can now be immediately digitized, printed in a couple of days and sent to your place (or hotel) for your own pleasure. And you don’t have to wear yellow pants. Wooster, between Canal and Grand St.

DOMINIQUE ANSEL KITCHEN
The Frenchman creativity couldn’t fit in its tiny bakery, it needed a kitchen to further explore savory and sweet delicacies. Believe it or not, the space is even smaller than the bakery, but I’m ready to bet you won’t stay long anyway. It’s very hard to not devore the magical fusionesque ideas exposed for your visual pleasure, preliminaries to your tasteful delectation. 7th Ave, between W 10th and Charles St.
