Taller Nyabinghi Drum, 24” x 8”
Nyabinghi, or Nyabingi, was a legendary woman of the Bahororo Bantu tribe whose name meant "mother of abundance." She likely lived in the latter half of the 18th century. Following her death, Nyabinghi was mythologized as a spirit who moved among women in Ndorwa (Rwanda and Uganda), possessing them and leading them to rebel against illegitimate authorities, both from within and without.

Then they say that “white folks coined dreadlocks because they thought our hair was dreadful”. Sounds great, but facts are facts and it has no place for opinions/feelings. If you want to continue calling it locks and still despise the term “dread” (b/c it’s already engrained in your mind & you look at things through European lens)—that’s fine, but let’s not spread misinformation on the internet or give “them” credit for a philosophy they didn’t CREATE The correct terms are #locs OR #dreadlocks.
