That’s Pretty Sus | V and Nyb

V must’ve read the yellowed pages of this particular Blake anthology about a hundred times. Still, it was his favorite collection of poems, and the familiarity of the words brought him a sort of comfort. It was a nice day to go outside for most, but that time could’ve been spent inside for just as pleasant of a time if you asked V.
Griffon was by no means a normal bird, but he fell into those habits regardless, preening his feathers near his master. But as he finished, rather than engage in some banter, the familiar was silent. V was glad for the reprieve from Griffon’s usual blabber, but he could feel that there was a deeper reason for his bird’s uncharacteristic behavior.
“Is something the matter?” he asked, not looking up from his book.
“Yeah... there’s been a guy hanging around outside for a while. He doesn’t seem to be doin’ anything, but uh... he’s just been there way longer than anyone should, considerin’ to anyone else, this is just a closed down bookstore,” Griffon explained.
“Hm... that’s odd, indeed. He may be lost.”
“Or he could be up to something.”
“I guess we’ll find out, then, won’t we?” With that, V shut his book and placed it on the table in front of him, grabbing his cane from nearby. “I’m going to go for a walk. If he’s still loitering about when I return, then it might be cause for suspicion.”
Griffon nodded once before dissolving into black shards which seemed to evaporate into mist shortly, the tattoos on V’s chest and arms reappearing as the mist cleared. V stepped outside of the bookstore and locked the door behind him before turning to begin his stroll. But before he set off, it wouldn’t hurt to pose a question to the stranger.
“Is there something I can assist you with?” V asked the man. “Are you lost, perhaps?”
