There was a bird in the bookstore.
No, that wasnât right. This bird wasnât normal in the slightest. Not only was itâs size something Minato found odd based on the fact that they were in a bookshop (how would it have gotten inâŠ?), but it was a strange blue color, itâs beak looked like nothing he had seen before, and it was speaking. He was in a dream, wasnât it? ââŠGoodnight.â Not giving the creature any of his attention, Minato simply blinked at him with a blank expression before promptly lying back down and tugging his blanket over him once more.Â
Within just a few seconds he found himself asleep once more, but that sleep didnât last for very long. Koromaru once again began whimpering as a way to get his attention, lightly pawing at the young manâs torso. His grayish-blue eyes opened slowly, first landing on the dog and then on the bird. The bird that was still here. So it wasnât a dreamâŠbut it was still strange. Minato sat up and yawned. The thing, the bird had called him somethingâŠwhat was it? Sleeping Beauty? ââŠWhat did you say before? SleepingâŠbeautyâŠ?â He repeated the words slowly, as if he was unsure of himself. From the fairytale thenâŠwas this his way of teasing? Though he didnât think it was strange that he was sleeping. It was the middle of the night, after all.Â
âWho are you?â Rather than answer his question, Minato posed his own. Despite what he was thinking, he didnât seem all that phased. Shizume was full of strange characters, after all. Maybe this was one of Vâs abilities coming in the form of a bird. That wasnât incredibly crazy to think about. To his relief, Koromaru was taking the appearance of this new creature well. Maybe Koromaru knew he wasnât in any kind of dangerâŠhe was good at sensing those things.Â
With hardly any acknowledgement at all, Minato simply laid back down with a âgoodnight.â âHey, hey! Donât be rude, Iâm tryinâ to check on you here!â Griffon protested. âI got half a mind to rip that blanket right off ya, see how long you sleep then.â When he got no response, Griffon sighed, figuring their guest had already gone back to sleep. âYou got a weird owner, Fido.â
Minato stirred as Koromaru woke him up again, and Griffon flew from the chair he was on to sit on Minatoâs legs, not regarding the weight that came with his size. âYeah. What, would you rather Little Boy Blue?â
At the question, Griffon puffed out his feathers. âI am only our wonderful kingâs most useful companion. His right hand. Or wing, if you will.â Griffon laughed briefly at his own joke. âIâm probably more important than he is, everyone knows the right hand has more power than the king, right? Anyway, call me Griffon.â
âYou were coughinâ up a storm down here. Fido here was makinâ a racket, too. You alright?â
