NYC Sweets 3: Levain Bakery and Serendipity
Here's the last part of my NYC Sweets adventure. Check out the part 1 and 2.
Levain Bakery, the best cookie shop in the city!
Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. Hands down the best cookie I've ever had. They're all amazing, but my favourites are chocolate chip and dark chocolate chip.
My sister and I walked from Central Park all the way to Levain! The snow storm also hit the city that day, no cabs! It took us 30 minutes to get to Levain, no kidding! Our boots were soaking wet and we're freezing to death. I was very surprised that the bakery is very small. It was worth the wait and the cookies are not overrated. They're amazing. Keep Levain Bakery in mind when you go to NYC!
Serendipity
I've always wanted to try the frozen hot chocolate since I saw the movie Serendipity. Serendipity 3 is the home of famous frozen hot chocolate. I read so many reviews and one of the best recommendations is to book early! I booked our reservation a month before! When we got there people were waiting for two hours, two hours! Book a reservation just in case!
Yummmmm!! I also bought the frozen hot chocolate Mix.
We also had a quick stop at Dylan's Candy Bar, Sprinkles Bakery and Baked!
NYC Sweets 2: Bouchon and City Bakery
NYC Sweets continues! Here's my first post - Magnolia Bakery.
On our second day in NYC, we went to Bouchon Bakery for breakfast. The place was packed. It's also located just across the Rockefeller Center.
They have a variety and delicious desserts, croissants, mini and large french macarons. Sandwiches are pretty pricey! Ham and cheese on a baguette is $9 and grilled cheese is $6!
See the mini and large macarons?
Desserts and more desserts!
My sister and I ordered banana bread, chocolate croissant, chocolate and vanilla french macarons.
I read amazing reviews about their french macarons. We ordered two to try and it didn't disappoint! They're great and super smooth. We ended up buying half a dozen and waited in the line again for 15 minutes. It was worth it though.
City Bakery
Second stop of the day, City Bakery in Union Square. The bakery is famous for pretzel croissants and super rich hot chocolate with an optional humongous marshmallow!
I thin this was the biggest bakery that I've been to. We went there around 2pm, again it was fully packed! The line was so long and slow.
I went to try the famous pretzel croissants but I was more giddy with the hot chocolate and the marshmallows! My sister didn't like the hot chocolate, because it was too rich and made with real chocolate. I guess she likes the artificial!
Pretzel croissants!
and the hot chocolate. Pretzel dipped in hot chocolate was so so so good!
Levain, Serendipity, Dylan's Candy Bar, Sprinkles and Baked by Melissa are next!
