Ten years ago I woke up for the first time in New York City as a Resident, or ‘Resident-Hopeful’. I’ve been faced with heartbreaking loss, glorious triumph, the deepest of loneliness, joy, sorrow...seen laughter, tears, smiles, savored kisses, romance, warm hugs. Today I woke up with a chosen family that has held me up in the hardest of times, stronger family bonds, memories of loved ones near, far and ones that are now angels watching over me, unnecessary pairs of shoes, plenty of masks, a date I am excited for, shelves I need to put up, plans for barbecues, beach time, catching up, light travel. The journey has been treacherous, terrifying and beautiful, but if it hadn’t been...I don’t know if I would be strong enough to handle everything 2020 has thrown our way. Be kind, be strong, be HONEST. Wear a mask and vote. I love you. Thank you, New York, for the last ten years and for preparing me for the next, wherever they will take me. It’s been absolutely wild. 🐼❤️🍎 #tenyears #nycanniversary #panda (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEj7ftGhs9i/?igshid=1phd2weqwrim3
