THE HARDEST PART IS KNOWING NO ONE WANTS YOU… Take a look at this handsome hunk, Kramer! His story is short, but nonetheless extremely heartbreaking. Kramer was originally surrendered to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter along with several other dogs by their owner. Thankfully Kramer was pulled from the shelter by Remember Me Rescue NY, @gizmoandhenry, who had high hopes of placing him in a forever home. Sadly that still has not happened, and this poor senior is sitting in boarding wondering when it will be his turn for a real, forever home. Kramer is about 10 years young and weighs approximately 65-70 pounds. The rescue believes him to be a Pointer/Lab/Pit mix, but no matter his mix he is a beautiful boy. He is extremely playful and does not have a mean bone in his body. He is truly a sweet, loving, goofy personality who loves every person he meets – all he wants is to be loved. Kramer knows all his basic commands, walks nicely on a leash, loves playing fetch and with squeaky toys. He can get a little grabby when he plays with you but, that is only because he is so excited to play and receive undivided attention. Because of his grabbinesses/rough play, the rescue is recommending a home with individuals ages 16 and up. Kramer is completely housebroken, has wonderful in-house manners and is not destructive at all. He does have a bit of a high prey drive so he will need to be your one and only pet and it would be best for him to have a fenced yard as well. Kramer needs a soft place to fall, and you might just find something you didn’t even know you were looking for. A home where he can kick off his leash, relax his paws, and snuggle in to a warm cozy bed while watching your favorite TV show or just a quiet moment gazing at the stars. PLEASE TAKE ME HOME Meet handsome Finnley! Finn is an adorable, 5 year young boy who just wants to be loved. Finn spent his young life chained up in a pen and was in terrible condition. He was thankfully rescued from this horrible situation and brought to the @babylonanimalshelter in September of 2019 where he waits for that one special person to come through the shelter doors and take him home.  Finn loves the pool, playing fetch and taking walks. He is very smart and highly trainable. He loves learning, and is learning his commands quickly. Although Finn walks nicely on a leash, he is very reactive to other dogs passing by; he suffers from fear based reactivity. The best home for Finn is with a very special Mom or Dad — savvy, experienced, patient individuals who are committed to him and will put in the time needed to gain his trust and continue to work with his insecurities. Individuals who understand dogs, their behavior and can read body language. A quiet adult home, with not a lot of people traffic going in and out. A loving family that will give him the time he needs to decompress, adjust to home life, and warm up to strangers. Once you build a bond of trust with Finn, he becomes very loving, and will never leave your side.  The shelter is recommending households where Finn will be the one and only pet with children 16 years and up and a fenced in yard is a must for this boy. Finn will also require multiple meet and greets at the shelter so he has the opportunity to warm up to new people. Louie was brought in to @babylonanimalshelter in January of 2020 after being found as a stray. He looked like a dog that had been living his life outside and was extremely nervous and timid. He had a few masses on his body, which were immediately removed. He is now a healthy senior who has really come around and become a very confident dog.  Louie is about 8-10 years young, has a fabulous personality and loves every person he meets! He knows many of his basic commands, loves walks, playing with stuffed toys and jolly balls. Louie is truly the sweetest most loving boy and so worth the effort!  The best home for Louie is one with a savvy, experienced individual/family who has experience with guarding issues. Due to his guarding issues the shelter is recommending an adult only household and a home without any other pets; no dogs, no cats. Patient individuals who are committed to him and will put in the time needed to gain his trust. A nice quiet home would be best, with not a lot of people traffic going in and out. A loving family that will give him the time he needs to decompress, and adjust to home life. Posted @withregram • @paws_give_me_purpose Sadly, this cutie is the longest resident @theshelterconnection in Port Washington, New York -- sitting behind bars since 2011. Zeus is a Pitbull mix, around 10 years young, a goofy guy with a very loving personality. He is a big clown who loves hanging out with the shelter staff and volunteers. Zeus knows all of his basic commands and so much more! Zeus is an extremely well behaved boy who is waiting for the love of his life to walk through those shelter doors and take him home. Zeus would thrive in a home as the only pet, but with him by your side you’ll need no other. I know that needing to be an only pet makes it much more difficult to find a home, but I also have faith that there is a home out there that is just perfect for him. Although Zeus is adored and well taken care of at the shelter, there is a longingness in his eyes that is indescribable; all he wants is a loving family and home to call his own. Zeus is also consider a senior dog and no dog especially a senior should be sitting behind shelter walls. All dogs are beautiful but senior dogs like Zeus have a way of touching our hearts in a way that changes everything. He was alone and scared wandering the streets when someone found him and brought him to the shelter. He waited and waited for his family to come and bring him home; but that never happened. He is the second longest resident in the shelter; forgotten for over 4 years. He is a very active boy who loves to play and loves people and is really hoping to have a family of his own to love. Draco knows all his basic commands, loves taking walks, going on runs, and is fabulous at the agility course. Draco is a stunning 75 pound boy who is about 5-7 years young. He is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and heart-worm negative. He would thrive best in a home as the ONE AND ONLY pet. He is a big boy and extremely strong, so no young children; a fenced in yard is a must. He needs an active home where he can exercise on a daily basis. A very special mom and dad — a savvy, experienced, strong, and patient individual or family who is committed to him and will put in the time needed to teach him the ropes of life and help him become the best boy he can be. One that is able to handle him and let him know who is in charge. He is super smart, loves to learn new things and requires guidance, structure and boundaries. He will need lots of time to decompress and slowly learn and acclimate to home life. From living on the streets to living in a shelter kennel, home life is unfamiliar and Draco will need to adjust, learn how he is supposed to behave in a home and requires structure and continued training. He really wants nothing more than to please his people, and to be your best friend, he just needs to learn how.
