I absolutely LOVE people. Everyone who meets me says how precious I am. They use words like "fabulous", "friendly and all around really sweet." I would say from my experience those are all really accurate descriptions. I am looking for a forever family who wants to be around me, as much as I want to be around them. I love spending time with people (preferably no one under 13 yrs old), getting a belly and back rub, or simply laying my head in your lap. The summer breeze after the sun goes down is a relaxing way to spend the end of the day, right next to you! I am great on leash, knows the "sit" command and will take any treat gently. I am even house-broken, as long as you don't make me wait forever! I really love companionship; so I would love a home where I don't have to be alone many hours; I want to be with you. It’s true, that Paws Give Me Purpose, but I have to say, it’s so sad seeing all these dog posts isn’t it? Well here’s another one for you, meet Pia. Pia is 4 years old and lives in the crowded Hempstead Town Animal Shelter. She came in to the shelter as a stray after being found alone in a park; and it was obvious she had been left there on purpose. Pia must have had a home at some point in her life because she knows many commands; she even understands them in Spanish! Sometimes dogs don’t show well in the kennels, Kennel Stress can cause so many issues for these poor souls locked up for 23 hours a day. It can also be overwhelming for an individual looking to adopt to walk through the kennels and see all the sad faces of the dogs. Go down to the shelter, ask to meet Pia out of the kennel, outside where she is more relaxed. Pia is very loving with the people she knows but fearful of strangers. She needs a patient family that will give her the time she needs to get over her fear. Once she warms up to you she will never leave your side! Pia needs to be in an all adult home or in a home with older teens. This is Pia’s time to shine, please help her by sharing everywhere!
