also absolute SHOUTOUT to the rookies for keeping things honestly so clean while still being spicy. I am having a complete blast watching them spit & fuss towards the middle-back of the grid and pretty much keeping it on track. and they are such sweet kids. I was prepared not to care about any of them but have been won over by their baby zest
I am btw living for max's teammates continuing to circle the meatgrinder drain that is the 2nd seat
we haven't even had the 2nd proper race of the season and who knows wtf will happen but that said. if this is the pattern that keeps up Wow. hamilton outqualifying leclerc on his 2nd outing with the team. charles '1 lap' leclerc. he looked rattled in the post sprint interview saying the car wasn't the issue and 'I wouldn't really blame the car because lewis is doing a great job with it' oof. woof. ouch
favorite lewis moment from the sprint has nothing to do w the race & entirely abt ricky saying 'p1 baby'
like how tense & awkward the team radio sounded in melbourne. how everyone was cringing bc isn't this classic ferrari, the frustration & poor communication over the radio. & then you get ricky & lewis giggling together over landing pole position & then the pure comfortable informality of 'p1 baby'
I think everyone focuses so much on lewis & bono bc that's the relationship we were privy to during races, & not to downplay the importance of it, but it makes it easy to forget that lewis knows how to work within a team & establish rapport & it feels like he's already managed to do that so quickly at ferrari. yes he is an absolute Killer on track but I feel like his ability to be kind, personable, & Human is such an underrated strength
hamilton's semi sinister semi manic semi gleeful giggle-cackle w ricky on getting pole in his 2nd outing with ferrari. terrifying. destroy them all lewis
hamilton verstappen front row in a year I get to watch with my 2 fave people whom i converted to f1 fans under occasional duress. vindicated. enjoy the feast
rb clusterfuck aside it is so fascinating to see hamilton & leclerc's timings & the comparisons of driving style. I'm really pleased to see them pulling out some nearly identical times bc I was going to have to kill myself if I saw lewis visibly struggling & doing a downward spiral of bleakness. no. dude is on it. his crazy eyes in the interview. he is chewing on the car.
