if any of you saw when i accidentally posted this unfinished, no you didn't 🫠
i happily rush down the wooden planks of the bridge, the sound of my suitcase rolling over each dent and divot filling the air. the beachy bungalow rests at the end of the walkway. everything sits above the clear water, views of the fish and plants visible.
i finally make it to the door of the retreat, a wide smile on my face as i turn around, looking at william as he gets closer, the key in his hand. i step aside, letting him unlock the door and make his way inside, making sure the hut is safe.
the area around us is completely secluded, no other bungalows or public access nearby. it's completely silent except for the soft sounds of the waves outside. it smells like saltwater, sand, and somehow the sun. i walk in and set my suitcase down on the bed, my backpack beside it.
i see willy set his things down as well, looking up at me with a smile. i smile back, walking towards him and pulling him to the balcony, i throw open the curtains and open the door, my jaw dropping at the beauty of the area we're in.
i admire the way the sun is beginning to set, closing my eyes and taking it all in. williams hand makes its way to the bottom of my back, his thumb rubbing it softly. his hand snakes around my waist, his other following suit. he stands behind me, pulling my back into his chest, his chin resting on my shoulder.
i can feel all the stress and emotions of our busy lives floating away, the sun burning into our skin even though we've only been outside a few moments. william tells me he's going to get the rest of the things out of his car, and for me to get changed into my swimsuit.
i do exactly so, the fabric clinging to my body. i hear the sound of glasses clinking in the kitchenette and walk out to see what willy's doing. there's a bottle of champagne in his hand, pouring it into each of the glasses. he hands them to me and tells me to meet him outside by the pool.
i take the glasses outside and walk down the stairs, there's a small area attached to the bungalow where the water is netted in, preventing most fish and plants from getting in. i smile excitedly, stepping into the water and putting the glasses down on the top step where william can see so he doesn't knock them down.
the water is warm from the sun beating down on it, reflections casted onto the small waves. it's calm, almost so calm it's disturbing, completely different compared to what we're used to in our everyday lives.
william walks out a few minutes later, his swim trunks on and his shirt off, his chains dangling from his neck. he steps down the stairs and dunks his head under the water, soaking his hair so he can slick it back. he swims over to me, now at the farthest edge of the pool from the house.
he swims up behind me, his arms on either side of me with his hands on the wood boards as he tucks his face in my neck, kissing it softly. his stubble tickles me slightly, making me giggle. he laughs softly, setting his chin on my shoulder to look out at the sunset.
the words he mumbles next almost make me melt, his voice full of love and affection. "i can see my two favorite things in the world right now. a beautiful sunset, and my beautiful wife..."
