Vampire AU

Jane feels the curious gaze from her without looking— always burnt like a brand, Nymphia's brown eyes, when strained on her, and she is a bee trapped in their amber.

Her own are grey, they flicker with a touch of red when she faces her and approaches with a stride that she perfected in her decades of hunting prey. Like this might be her last, and her greatest.

Nymphia doesn't cower when cornered— and Jane already cuts an imposing figure half a head taller, clad in black and red and pointed shoulderpieces. Her eyes are calm and still as a lake, and Jane can almost see herself in them.

“How,” Jane narrows her eyes, and leans in towards Nymphia, “exactly, do you keep finding me?”
