So, I’m done with college?
It’s funny how time works. A year ago, I took a plane by myself for the first time and arrived in Sydney, with low expectations of the semester and the start of my junior year. Two days ago, I said goodbye to one of my best friends, not because she was leaving for a different college, but because she was studying abroad as a senior at NYU Tel Aviv. One year ago today, I arrived in the greatest country I’ve ever been in and came home with the best of memories, and with it, an overwhelming sadness that the person I was in that moment would never exist again. Next week, I start my senior year and it’s just too surreal to imagine how fast time has gone by. I desperately hope I will be able to graduate and look back on my experience with happiness, and that someday I can rediscover the version of myself I left in Sydney.
the fact that after this semester, i will have the 128 credits necessary for graduation is mind boggling and cool but also very scary and real that I am most definitely graduating NYU early
NYU 2016 more like NYU 2015
Friends, if you go to NYU, which I know a lot of you do, and you want to have a mini-rant about something, which I also know a lot of you do... YOU'RE IN LUCK.
I'm a procrastinator who doesn't do her homework on time and I need 10 people's problems/issues/trepidations/hesitations/banal annoyances to help me out for a journalism piece. It could be anything you need to get off your chest - social, political, ecological, psychological, personal, anything.
My submit box is open and I would really, really welcome all responses. Also if I don't get even one response, I will be the weird girl sobbing in Bobst, and no one likes to see that shit, so please help me out.
Please write as much as you'd like, and feel free to use my submit box to vent. Just leave some form of contact info at the end (nyu email will do). I won't publish that, of course.
Hi! I saw your post about NYU and I was wondering if you could give me some advice about the MCC program at Steinhardt? What's the reputation, do people like it, will it be worth it in the end, etc. Also, I'm really concerned about making friends - I don't necessarily need a huge group of superficial friends but I do want a decent group of close friends and that's something I absolutely must have in a college. If you could answer this privately I would appreciate it sooo much! Thanks :)
i have a bunch of friends in MCC, and they all love it. MCC doesn’t necessarily have a reputation (not like the Tischies or Sternies), so i wouldn’t worry. there’s a lot of work (at least for my friends there is), but if it’s something you’re interested in, i’m sure you’ll like it.
i wouldn’t be concerned about making friends. i pretty much hated everyone in high school, and i have the best group of friends here. my advice to you would be to join whatever nyu facebook groups exist for the class of 2017 and get to know people, and to be social during welcome week. if you think you’re too cool to introduce yourself to people, you’ll probably have a bad time, but if you remember that everyone is feeling the same anxiety as you and you try to be social, you’ll do fine. i’m kind of the definition of a socially awkward white person, and it took a lot of pushing myself out of my comfort zone, but it was worth it in the end.
look at all these nyu 2017 kids on tumblr
i feel old now. i remember being that excited. if any of you have any questions, let a sista know, and i'll help you out.
I'm cold and all I want to do is sleep.
Welcome to college.
