So You Want to Know About Allison...

About me:
......Well...I'm a really picky eater (all of the other contributors of this blog can attest to that) so I pretty much survive on meat and carbs (yeah Atkins and vegetarianism are total non-options for me). I enjoy most genres of music but my favorites would have to be 80's, show tunes/musical soundtracks, country, classic rock, and oldies (particularly the 50s and 60s). I choose Spotify over Pandora every time. Born and raised in the city, and the majority of my extended family lives within a 40 minute drive (and about half of them within 10 minutes). I'm a Virgo, and the general description is actually freakishly accurate. A love of Art seems to run in my family, or be in my blood so to speak. I have OCD, Panic Disorder, Depression, and GAD... and may I just say that art is a great form of therapy. I'm more couch potato then social butterfly or active annie. I enjoy movies (my impulse DVD buying is actually a big problem) and TV shows, my favorite genres being: Sci-fi/Fantasy, Action, Comedy, and Animated. I love animals and generally am more of a cat person, but I pretty much love them all (only exception being arachnids...I DON'T DO arachnids). Pretty much all the books I own fall into the categories of Young Adult Sci-fi/Fantasy and Chick Lit. I hate the Twilight series, and have never read Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings. I'm a total otaku when it comes to particular anime and manga, but I can't draw it worth a damn (believe me, I've tried). I feel like I have a strange instinctual connection with the moon, feel more at home in water than on land, and am practically nocturnal (yes, I've had my days and nights completely reversed before). My mother is my best friend and my rock in life, and I have no idea how I would've survived without her. If you want to know more, send a message, because this post is getting a little too long.
About my Art:
I only recently, thanks to a particular bad turn in my mental health followed by a lot of therapy, rediscovered my passion for art. It had been lying dormant since the age of 9 and only came out to play to get a good grade in art class through middle and high school. Anyway, I rediscovered my passion and haven't stopped since. I like to draw in a variety of different styles. My favorite medium to use is ink, particularly Pentel Ink Brush Pens (that actually have bristle tips unlike most brush pens which simply have more flexible than average nibs). I abhor using charcoal because of the lack of control over keeping it where I put it, as well as it's tendency to fade/smear. I've recently finished both a Figure Drawing class and Ceramics class so you'll likely be seeing some work from that uploaded. I have no formal training with the exception of those two classes (I've never taken Drawing 1 or 2 or Design or Color Theory) so my work likely isn't the most sophisticated you'll see on this blog. I enjoy photography, particularly since having my new camera (a Samsung NX1000). Other than that I also Paint occasionally, mostly in acrylic. Hmm...well, I guess that's about it. If I end up posting any poetry, it's likely from when I was younger and is more amusing to look at than anything else (after all, I was a preteen girl when I wrote it).
