Apparently it's Fibromyalgia Awareness Day! (May must be the most aware month) Here are a couple of people with fibro. Mayo Clinic gives a good description of what it is: "Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals." That's why I'm spaced out a lot of the time. One of the particularly annoying symptoms I get is having difficulty making out words when there's lots of background noise, so taking part in conversations in busy halls and restaurants is mostly fruitless. Sign language can be handy though! (Get it? Handy. Because you use your hands. No?) It's New Zealand Sign Language Week too, so I encourage you to give it a go. It's surprisingly easy to pick up!
