He wasn’t sure why he had decided to attend the gala, but then again Asher knew better than to not make an appearance. It always seemed to be that when he wanted to miss events, they ended up pivotal to either his work or personal life. It frustrated the hell out of him, but he at least knew it was a sure fire method to make sure gracing a venue with his presence would be worth his time and effort. With a glass of champagne in hand, he began to make is rounds with the guests.
Then his eye caught a very pleasant face, one that at least caused him pause. She was beautiful, and he didn’t know her. More importantly, he hadn’t had the pleasure of her company. He made an immediate intended path toward her, though making sure to acknowledge those he needed to along the way. As soon as he reached her, he elegantly took a step and found himself nearby, though it seemed like she had bumped into him instead. “Oh, hello. Good evening. Asher Van den Burgh. I don’t believe I’ve seen you at one of these events before, Miss...?”
