8.5 / 10
I must say I am absolutely loving this plethora of coffee beers I’ve been drinking lately and this one really surprised me. I’ve never heard of Oakshire before besides the type of trees that Frodo Baggins grows on Middle Earth but I must say that if this is any sign of what these guys are capable of, I better pack my bags and jump on the next flight to Oregon. Actually, what the fuck is even in Oregon? I’m going to guess that the Oregon trail is there but if I have to take it to get there I’ll pass because I could never trade away my buffalo and I’m definitely not trying to get Dysentery. This beer is apparently named for the grey skies western Oregon experiences often and I feel like I really feel for them because right near me I have NYC which always has grey skies above it. It’s not the same kind of grey skies? That’s all smog over NYC?? Figures. Anyways, this starts with a great oatmeal heartiness with some chocolate and sweetness joining in quickly after with a good amount of smoky flavor before a mild coffee taste finishes this bad boy off. I really enjoyed this brew but I just wish there was a bit more espresso flavor going on here so I could rank it higher but I’d still highly recommend this for the stout lovers out there and anyone who is looking for a great dessert beer. As for newbies, the smoke might put some of you off but for the most part I can see this being a perfect introduction to the style. Now drink up!
