A couple days ago I received a quite large box containing a very special bird named Norman. Norman is a harlequin macaw whose life sadly ended far too short. His mom asked that we help her memorialize him by collecting his gorgeous feathers, articulating his skeleton, preserving his heart, taking ink paw prints to be incorporated into a future tattoo, and cremating what remained. We don’t get to work on many birds, so being able to work on a large Macaw like Norman is definitely a memorable experience. • OddArticulations Pet Processing! A little over a month ago I began working on a kitty named Audrey. Audrey had a pretty large tumor on her face which I removed before cleaning her skull, but at that time there was no sign that the tumor had affected the bone underneath. After macerating, however, it became evident just how much damage the tumor had caused. The front of Audrey’s skull is riddled with holes from the tumor, and her nasal bones fell off (they’ll be reattached once she’s clean). I’m taking special care while degreasing Audrey’s skull to ensure this delicate bone doesn’t get damaged any further • OddArticulations Pet Processing! Last night I began working on a cute little opossum named Floyd. Floyd was rehabilitated after being hit by a car, which left him with a very bad underbite. He also had a ruptured eardrum and vestibular disease. I was asked to clean his skull, preserve his heart, take ink paw prints, and cremate the rest of him. • OddArticulations Pet Processing! We have the honor of working with many pets of all shapes and sizes, and I’d like to recognize their very unique paw prints. There’s 12 individual pets’ prints pictured (say that 5 times fast 😅), and every one is unique in their own way. You can see the cats that were declawed have much smaller “beans”, the dogs of course have larger prints, and you can see the little Yorkie named Lola was missing a leg. Yesterday we had a specially-hired courier drop off a very special client of ours, a 150lb Irish Wolfhound named Selwyn. Selwyn is the largest pet we’ve ever worked on, even surpassing the actual wolves we have had in. Coincidentally, this breed was actually used to HUNT WOLVES in the past. Absolutely mind boggling to me. • Selwyn’s mom requested that his full skeleton be cleaned (not articulated yet- space limitations), part of his pelt be tanned, his huge heart be preserved, and a few ink paw print be made. • OddArticulations Pet Processing!
