So I’m reading the patch notes for OB66 and color me flabbergasted; here’s the part that’s throwing me off the most:
Classic Siege: Now has a minimum required level of 15.
Developer Comments: Our classic Siege ruleset is the primary mode for competitive Paladins players. To promote a more balanced and fair environment, we have increased the minimum level requirement of this queue.
Now, this is nonsense to me for a variety of reasons. For one thing, its putting a gated barrier on a NON COMPETITIVE queue. This is the only bound queue available that isn’t core competitive.
I actually set up an account a while ago to test the new player experience: if you're not playing more than a few hours daily, it does actually take a while to get to level 15 on top of this. Until then you're stuck with unbound queues - even if it took a shorter amount of time to level up, its still an unnecessary barrier to a non competitive queue.
Keep in mind, all new players start with level one cards, with the exception of the default level four loadout for every champion. Bound Siege allows new players to be more flexible in their loadouts since in unbound, they're stuck playing with the "default." Why experiment with cards in unbound queues that are obviously weaker? This is one of the few queues where they have breathing room in their loadouts.
Anyway, this change strikes me as a load of barnacles.
