What is CAN? (Controller Area Network)
The CAN (Controller Area Network) is a communication system used in modern vehicles that allows electronic control units (ECUs) to exchange information quickly and reliably. Instead of connecting every module with separate wires, the CAN bus enables all modules to communicate through a shared two-wire network.
Functions of the CAN Bus
Enables communication between vehicle control modules such as the ECU, PCM, BCM, ABS, TCM, and SRS.
Reduces the amount of wiring, making the electrical system lighter and simpler.
Provides fast and reliable data transmission.
Allows modules to share sensor data, including vehicle speed, engine temperature, throttle position, and engine load.
Supports vehicle diagnostics through the OBD-II diagnostic connector.
