rewatching opla s2 and im always going to cry with dr. hiriluk's speech. it's a bonus that the actor performance is impeccable. it's like watching a Shakespearean monologue which i appreciate very much.

oda-san penned this speech in the manga and it was adapted by the writers into the live action. i am quite amazed how Shakespearean this is.

now, im going to cry again for baby chopper 😭🎩🩺 🌸

Sanji and Usopp braking generational curses with their kids.

Papa(Sanji): never let's his kids fight with each or bully one another, his children are allowed to be children, to feel emotions, they aren't forced into what he wants them to be, he shows kindness and understanding as a father

Daddy(Usopp): never misses anything, he is present for every moment, he half retires to be there as much as he can, he helps them learn things, he doesnt cover for Sanji if he messes up, he tells stories with them,

Both immediately get any "funny feeling" look at, they take shifts when their tiered, they communicate, their kids know what healthy love looks like because Papa and Daddy love each other so much and so openly, their kids know that will be love wholely and fully no matter what

I kinda want to know how soundproof the walls of that Saloon on Whiskey Peak are. Like, how much of the battle going on in the giant hall outside did Sanji and Usopp hear while being tied up? And did they realize those were just the sounds of Zoro going to absolute town on 76 Baroque Agents before he crashed through the wall? And once they freed themselves and went on their way towards the ship, what did they think upon seeing all of these bodies lying around all over the hall? Like, did they try to make a rough guess about how many there were or did they just go "whelp, no time to count them, but there are definitely way too many"? And how desperately was Sanji trying to hide that he wasn't just a little bit impressed (and scared) of Zoro now?

I also want to see the discussion between the Straw Hats where Zoro casually mentions that he just got done mowing through 100 Baroque Agents single-handedly. And we know they had to have discussed this at some point because Nami knows that Zoro killed specifically 100 of them and mentions it to Vivi. I feel like Usopp would be the one to ask Zoro about it with Nami being the one most appreciative of the feat considering she saw him right before it and brings it up again later.

My personal scenario looks something like this:

Usopp: *just in awe of him*

Sanji: "Whatever, those were all obviously weaklings, that's not that hard." *trying to hide that he's just the teeny-tiniest little bit impressed*

Luffy: *completely casual* "Sounds like a lot of fun!"

Nami: "... ... ... And that's what you understand as "being careful"?"

Zoro: "I was being careful."

Nami: "..." *just happy that he made it through without major harm but also can't help but be weirdly proud of him being able to do this without breaking much of a sweat*

*literally 5 minutes later*

Nami: "Hey Vivi, did you know that Zoro killed 100 Baroque Agents?"

No no no cuz seeing Sanji trying so hard to not cry while talking to sick Nami. My heart cannot take it.

I just finished my OPLA rewatch in German too

This one I did for practice. I took German back in high school. Robin's voice was still sexy af. Clean sweep for my queen.

Chopper's German voice is the only one so far that is not cutesy, but I liked that it sounded like a teenager's voice. Chopper is 15-17 in the story, so it makes sense. It reminded me of my brother because he always complains that Chopper sounds too baby and that everybody treats him like a baby. He would probably love this voice for Chopper.

I'm in World Cup mode right now, but I did do an OPLA rewatch in Brazilian Portuguese.

I was mainly doing it for Chopper and Robin. Chopper's voice sounded cute in the Brazilian trailer, and Robin is Robin. She's my baby, my queen, my everything. Chopper's voice was cute all throughout. My favorite performances are still the English by Mikaela Hoover and the original Japanese. With Robin I'm like... How do they always manage to find the sexiest voices for her?! It's insane.

The standout moments here for me were the interactions between Vivi and Igaram. Igaram's parting words to Vivi had me tearing up a little bit, and the reverie flashback was so wholesome. Kudos to those two voice actors for sure.

I was also thinking about how I wasn't all that active on here or Twitter last time there was a world cup. I think I had made both accounts by that point because Qatar 2022 was at the end of the year, but I wasn't posting a lot. I started posting when I got COVID for the first time in 2023 because I had nothing to do. All this to say... The world cup always takes over my life, so I haven't been active here as much because I've been watching these games back to back 😂

I love OPLA bc it really makes the most interesting talks with my sister and mama (they only watched the LA). the other day, my sister told me about this romance book she's reading, and she told me she pictures LA Sanji as the male lead bc he's a chef. oh, he WISHES he's a male lead in a romance book.
