Hi, Happy New Year 💕 Can I request a web weaving about memory loss or about your brain blocking memories as a coping mechanism or something like that?
Thank you 💚

Obert Skye really looked at the Dursley’s and thought “I bet I can make my protagonists guardians even worse”
Fave books
@authorsworkshop my favorite books are (in no particular order):
1. Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo by Obert Skye
- it’s got a bit of magic, a group of friends, an interesting mentorship relationship and no real romance (just the power of friendship vibe which I love), plus it’s a series. And even tho it’s geared towards the YA/child lit audience, I can honestly say the sequels were just as hard to put down as the first
2. Fablehaven by Brandon Mull
- ya/child lit audience but still very very good, Magic, mythical creatures, family (protags r 2 siblings a boy and a girl), adventure, a plot twist here and there, surprisingly good action scenes considering the intended audience, series, again no romance just familial love :)
3. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
- ya audience, romance (with a little bit of forbidden thrown in for flavor), action, WIZARDS, warriors, a dash of politics for spice, features a QUEENdom not a kingdom which is v refreshing, also has good friendships, SERIES, 3rd person pov
4. Song of the Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell
- written kind of like poetry? Makes it interesting; King Arthur era with a twist it’s great, a lil bit of romance but easily overlooked until the end, one of the only 1st person POV I’ve been able to read more than once (at least 4 as a matter of fact), feminist friendly...protagonist is a verifiable badass, action, adventure— it’s all very addicting. Only one book.
RAVENCLAW: “Perhaps nothing is more magical then the book. Paper, glue and some words and you are taken away from where you sit, stand, dance, or lean.” –Obert Skye
Not-So-Friendly Reminders
-Friendly reminder that Leven Thumps was abused, bullied, and neglected for over 10 YEARS and still turned out to be a good person.
-Friendly reminder that Leven's own family hurt him and undermined him and showed only selfishness and greed and he still consistently put others' needs before his.
-Friendly reminder that Leven Thumps lost his mother before he knew her, his grandmother only a little while after he met her, and his grandfather only moments before he revealed who he was.
-Friendly reminder that Leven Thumps nearly killed himself to cut down the Oldest Tree, never even thinking of giving up because he knew the consequences if he did.
-Friendly reminder that even though it was forced upon him, Leven Thumps accepted the title and burdens of the Want and did his best to use his abilities to help Foo and its citizens as much as he could.
-Friendly reminder that Leven Thumps knew how powerful the Dearth was and still fought him with everything he had because death was preferable to living in a world where the Dearth ruled.
-Friendly reminder that Leven Thumps rose up from the worst conditions possible and was still selfless and kind and courageous and determined and GOOD.
