Time seems to slow down as the words exit L's mouth. Light's thoughts begin to race. What was the man standing before him trying to say?

TIK, The sound of the clock's second hand was almost deafening.

Is this L's way of telling Light that he's figured something out? And if so, what has he figured out?

What was he trying to accomplish, what was L hoping for? But probably most importantly, what should Light say in response...?

What would Kira say? What would Light Yagami say? Does L already know what both of their responses would be?

As every possible scenario played out inside Light's head, it felt like his head was going to explode.

TIK, Once again, the clock made sound, pulling Light out of his trance.

"Ah, you're right. It does feel like we understand each other pretty well!"

"Maybe we were just destined to meet on this case. With us working together, I don't think there's any criminal that can defeat us!"

With that, Light's mouth closed once more, now forming a friendly smile.

Unmoving, Qadira’s eyes tracked Odin’s movement as far as they could from that angle as he rushed forward, and the fluttering of pages told her everything she needed to know. In an instant, she twirled around, and right as she did, there was a telltale crackling of magic; a dramatic incantation from Odin, and then a blast that blew her hair back-- just as it blew the unfortunate target the opposite direction.

Awestruck, and eyes widening, Qadira pursed her lips together and cleared her throat. That-- indeed-- was a flashy, bold display- and a display that saved her life. 

“You... You’re quite the knight in shining armor, for a man with neither armor, nor steed. You have my gratitude; I shan’t forget to repay it in kind,” Qadira said in quiet amazement-

And of course, the moment to repay it came right as she was in the middle of curtsying, nearly caught up by her own impulsive decorum before she bounded forward, uncaring for the ache in her feet. 

With a pirouette-like movement, she swung her blade, and yet another adversary had been cut down. Her legs wobbled unsteadily. 

“Will that...” Qadira took in a breath, lungs heaving, “...Suffice?”

She was not that surprised Ryoji wanted to have coffee with her. But wanting to have coffee together was a bit surprising. She would have sworn Ryoji was more of a tea person--but, to each their own. Fuuka played with the outer ring of the coffee cup, her index finger going around and around, as she had no idea what to say with Ryoji directly in front of her.

Then again, it’s not often that many people wanted to hang with her. Especially someone of the opposite sex. Fuuka reached for her cup, held it in both of her hands, and eyed Ryoji gently. “I am...surprised that you picked coffee for today. I would think you would be into tea, or even smoothies.” She stated, sipping her coffee full of creamer and sugar, and placed the cup back down in front of her. “I would think you’d want to hang out with someone more... ...outgoing.”

Kiyotaka took a step outside, nearly being blinded by the sun's light. He took another glance at his phone, maybe checking the time, maybe his current points.

Whichever it was, it didn't matter much. Today's plans have not changed, or rather, the lack thereof.

While on his way to his dorm however, something unusual appeared on the school grounds. At least somewhat curious, Ayanokouji sat on a bench near the mysterious figure. Without even glancing toward the outsider, there was no reason for them to suspect the student of having noticed them.

This again didn't matter much though, as not long after he'd sat down, quietly looking at his phone, the figure approached him.

Finally being able to get a direct look at him, his earlier suspicions were confirmed. He wasn't wearing a school uniform and instead wore white lab coat. If this man really isn't a student, then this might be the first contact with the outside Kiyotaka has had since coming here.

Not only that, but how did he even get in...? This school is supposed to be completely isolated. So, surely the security isn't something an ordinary guy can get past.

Finally his question came.

' He wants to use my phone? '

He looked down at the device he's holding, it's not like he can decline after very clearly having his phone on him. If this guy before him was a student, then declining would've been more natural. After all, the control of all of his points, the very thing he's supposed to survive on. All of that control is in the palm of his hands right now.

However, he's not a student. Explaining the system to him is more effort than it's worth. And so, not before opening the correct application, Ayanokouji handed the scientist his phone.

"Sure, although the connection here is limited."

He wasn't expecting the call to go through anyway, if anything the only effect this'll have is the school will notice I tried to contact the outside world.

He glanced up at the camera looking over both of them.

' Not like that matters... '

With her hands above her head, Sayori stretches as she exits the classroom where her last lesson took place. Her voice leaks out a little when she does.

"khayaaaaagh-"

Finally done for the day, she returns her body to a more normal position and makes her way outside.

Before making her way to the school gate however, the small building containing some public toilets catches her eye.

There's not really any students who use them for some reason. However, she didn't see any harm in it and decided it'd be easier than going all the way back into the main building.

Upon entering the toilets, it seemed like a surprisingly 'okay' place. Not much going on, but the evening sunlight gave it a nice calm atmosphere. It's also rather small, as there are only 4 stalls, which may be why people choose to not even bother with it.

There may have been a period where this toilet was used more often and it's easy to see how quickly it would've been completely full.

She opened the second stall and after examining the interior, went in and locked the door behind her. Once again, nothing bad about these toilets at all, seems cleaner than the one in the main building.

After finishing her business and once again exiting the stall she remembered a rumour about this place. She looked around and realised she was sitting in the exact toilet the rumour was supposedly about.

In the third stall from the end of the girl's bathroom of the old building… …You'll find Hanako-san. She will grant one wish to anyone who summons her spirit. But in exchange, that person will have to give up something precious. To summon the ghost, you knock three times… And thenー "Hanako-san Hanako-san." "Are you there?"

Sayori thought about it for a moment and curiosity got the better of her.

'A kind spirit who trades something precious for a wish...'

'There's no harm in trying right..?'

Sayori looked through her bag for a moment to find anything she could trade with the ghost. She tried to ignore it, but there was one item that definitely stood out to her.

'I don't think I can find anything else...'

She reached in and pulled out a notebook. It was a nice pastel blue with a soft heart design on the front. She flipped the first page and stared at the title for a couple minutes

She stuffed it back into her bag and walked up to the 3rd stall from the end... the same one she was in mere moments ago.

The girl raised her hand, knocked three times and spoke.

"Hanako-san, Hanako-san... Are you there?"

The words hadn't even left her mouth before she already felt embarrassed that she even tried it in the first place.

'Argh... this was dumb...'

Ready to leave and go home, Sayori turned around and started walking towards the exit.

The night before the meeting is miserable.

In theory, Mello knows he is supposed to be well rested for this. In theory, he knows the whole list of reasons on why sleep is important, enough to write a thesis. In practice, he is a nervous wreck, and angry about it.

After a sleepless night, Mello walks through his morning routine in a haze. The last hour before his alarm goes off goes at a snail's pace but he refuses to get up earlier, highly aware he is going to spend the whole morning pacing around his tiny flat if he was to leave the bed. After finally finishing with his morning routine (5 minutes faster than usual, a fact that is making him unreasonably irritable), Mello stands in front of his living room window with a cup of black coffee in his hands and stares at the road towards the direction L’s car will supposedly arrive from. He takes a way too big sip out of the coffee cup, the burning in his mouth almost a welcome distraction. Just to quadruple-check he has not forgotten anything, Mello runs through the inventory in his laptop bag in his head while biting his almost numb tongue.

The Kira case finished over three years ago, and for the whole time Roger gave him no information of whatever was going on with L despite Mello’s best efforts. No nominations for the next L, no nothing apart from a singular whole-orphanage victory message. While Near managed to be infuriatingly calm on the surface, there were moments where even the twerp showed some frustrations if you knew where to look. It was only after Mello moved out to London that he got a call from the old man Wammy.

‘If you were to accept, L requests your assistance on a case.’

As if Mello hadn’t been begging, pleading to be able to show his worth for his whole life, almost on the verge of giving up on ever being given the opportunity. The resentment and excitement both filled his head until he felt like he was going to pass out, but somehow he managed to agree to the offer and now…

A black Rolls Royce drives towards his apartment building, looking incredibly out of place amongst the building walls that have been graffiti’d and tagged several times over. Mello puts his coffee cup in the sink with shaking hands and glances at a mirror next to his front door. His hair is in a ponytail that he made damn sure looks smart enough, his black t-shirt doesn’t have any toothpaste stains. The leather jacket is thrown over his shoulder after Mello brushes off non-existent dust from his black jeans and grabs his laptop bag.

He runs down the stairs after locking the door, the sound of his boots echoing around the gloomy spiral staircase. Just before he gets outside he slows down, catches his breath for a second before leaving the building. Mello walks towards the car, lets the driver open the door for him with a nod (if he was to speak his voice would certainly crack) before sitting down on the most comfortable car seats he has ever sat on.

Next to him is a freak squatting on the seat with no shoes or socks on. Mello blinks. Stares. Blinks more.

One might consider it improper for a princess to be knelt down on the dirty floor of a restaurant lobby, but Sonia couldn’t resist the look of wonder in her eye as she gazed upon the semi-transparent, plastic green ball that rolled about the floor. She propped herself up in her elbows, a sweet little grin showing as she tapped the top of the object with her pointer finger. The little white creature inside rolled around contentedly; the Devas always seemed cheerful when they got to play freely, and she was happy Gundham allowed her to spend time with them as well. She looked over to him curiously.

“Say, Tanaka, I know that this one is still very young,” being born from the latest litter, “but do you think I would be able to hold her sometime soon? She is so cute, I feel like we are friends already!” Leaning over to him slightly, she clasped her hands together at chest level and smiled sweetly. "Pretty please?"

an earnest giggle spills from camilla’s lips as she regards the man before her,   striking one of his dramatic poses in the harsh noontime sun and unaware of her stopping to watch on her way across the courtyard.   she often thinks,   when she sees him,   back to the countless complaints about his behavior she’s heard from selena   —   it’s endearing,   really.   both odin’s mannerisms and selena’s harsh words are.   sometimes she wishes she had old friends like them,   but she’s content with devoting her child self’s heart to her siblings.

their gazes eventually meet,   though,   and camilla realizes she’s been caught.

   “   don’t stop on my account,   ”   she says lightly,   teasing,   “   is it your blood again   ?   or perhaps the darkness this time   ?   ”
