If he was feeling a little dazed, then surely he’d understand the racing of her own heart, right? It was too easy, remembering why she ended up falling for him. Playfully teasing his spiky hair, being charmed with every overly-cheesy line and compliment he showered upon her. Enchanted with how his eyes sparkled or how big his smile could get. It was like dating the embodiment of sunshine...
...It’s just a shame she was a cloud on that point in their lives. Doing all she could to keep that shred of happiness going, but... It had been built on lies, peppered with little truths. The hints of Iris’ true self behind the deception. Not that...they mattered much, in the end. Still helped Dahlia deceive him, nearly cost him his life, and the resulting trial never made her want to confront and apologize the person she loved most.

“Of course,” the words fall out naturally, half stuck in her own fretful head while the other half... He gives her such an intense, yet soft gaze sometimes.
