I thought the whole "your powers will go away if you kill your demon lover" thing was just a lie to shame Kagome into a suicide mission where she wasn't supposed to be alive long enough to even know if it was successful.

Oh, no, shogun was absolutely 100% correct about the powers disappearing. He’s just confused (read: EVIL AND DELUDED) about exactly WHAT made his daughter insane when he made her go through it. Because he had a narrative already in his head and he wasn’t ever going to interpret anything as his fault.

Izayoi doesn’t have powers anymore; it’s true. She also doesn’t have her sanity. Soooooooo...way to go, Father of the Year (TM).

And as far as Kagome goes, yeah, you’re right that the shogun didn’t really care one way or another if Kagome was successful. The second he knew about Kagome’s miko powers, he was ready for her to disappear, because he knew how loyal people were to her and she could end up destroying his whole narrative.

TL;DR - Shogun is a shithead (but we been done knew that right lol)

She reminded Sango of some of the court ladies living at the shogun’s palace - never a hair out of place, never a slip of the tongue or a hint of indecorous behavior.
