Writing Updates
i don't mean to alarm anyone...
but i've written nearly 5000 words of Obsequium in the last two days.
chapter 20 and the epilogue are about 75% complete. i might have a chance to write a bit more later.
i can't explain what happened. i opened up my document, as i so often do on my days off, and i was able to add to it.
part of it is i finally was able to make progress on other projects, part of it is i finally have an established rhythm at work. i'm no longer in the 'learning new things' phase, which i got thrown back into twice with uptraining. that takes a lot of my focus and energy. now i'm in the 'doing the things' phase, and that's easier.
some Stanswering Machine highlights from @twincaptains Obsequium
His hands carefully work through a string of iridescent beads that flourish into a pretty little tassel at the end. It feels intimate, like the act of worship you know it to be. For a man as big as him, it feels incredibly small. “Since when did you begin to believe in God?”
He looks up, the beads still moving slowly against his palms. “I always have.”
“But you’re— you’re a sinner,” you point out plainly.
“I’m repentant,” he says.
“You think that purifies you?” you don’t know if he really hears you.
“My mercy prevails over my wrath,” he recites, and finally the movement of his fingers still. No longer sliding the beads over and across like some divine abacus. Some ridiculous ritual neither of you really understand. “That’s what God ordains.”
You look down at the marks on your skin. The indents of his fingers, sinking into supple flesh. “Do you believe that you’re a merciful man?”
His eyes are cold as he stands, carefully wrapping the beautiful string of religious beads around his knuckles twice over. He asks simply, “am I not?”
And you choose not to respond to that.
hold on to your butts
a scene from chapter 10 of my fic. after writing everyone being miserable for so long, i really fixated on this image and needed to make it real.
Writing Progress - Chapter 18
Actually sitting down to get this thing rolling!
i've had a lot on my plate the last few weeks, so i haven't been able to sit down the way i'd always planned to.
i'm really excited about this one but also a bit nervous? this chapter contains a specific event that i've been thinking about for months and months and months, and because i have a vision SO specific, i'm worried about letting myself down when i sit down to write it.
silly problem, i know.
Obsequium - Chapter 16
Stan and Mabel haven't had much of a chance to talk through all this. Now that they have a moment, they can delve into the important stuff: anime and boys that are too smart for their own good.
