Observing MLP : Sombra (PT1)
Man its been a while. An entire season and half of Teen Wolf has passed me by on my massive hiatus. While I may go into some Teen Wolf analysis later in the months ahead, I've decided to start off my grand return with an MLP anaylsis post.
Since I haven't read the comics, and they are considered non-canon unless the showwriters want to use it, they are a non-factor.
I'm going straight to the beginning of Season 3, focusing on good old KING SOMBRA. And not only am I going to explain why this guy is probably the darkest, and possibly most intelligent villain on the show,
So what do we know about Sombra. Here's a quick run down.
He is a unicorn who enslaved the Crystal Ponies
He was turned to shadow when the Sisters banished him
When he was banished, the Crystal Empire disappeared with him.
When the Empire returned, (Along with Sombra) It is implied that Sombra had removed every single crystal ponies memory of the past.
Sombra is definitely intelligent
He used dark magic. And was considered to have a heart as black as night AKA, evil.
Now for the indepth talk.
Sombra is one of my favorite MLP villains, because he is the first real villain that I think was not only far more efficient than the other villains, but didn't lose because of his arrogance. Not only that, the implications of his abilties, his actions, and his personality.
Now lets talk about his personality, because he does have one. What is it? He's an intelligent but evil tyrant who's obsessed with control.
Yes its a weak personality, but it does exist., So How do I figure that?
First lets break it down.
His intelligence is shown right when Twilight and her friends meet Shining. What does he do? Go after them right when they get there. Don't give them time to get to Crystal Empire, destroy them before they become a threat.
Also his tactics. He basicaly lays siege to the Crystal Empire. All he has to do is wait until Cadence gives out. Heck, just to weaken them further, he ensures that Shining can't use his shield spell.
Finally how he hid the Crystal Heart. The only way to get to the door is to use dark magic, which most ponies wouldn't do. Plus the Crystal Ponies aren't unicorns, so they wouldn't be able to use magic. But then, if a pony does get through, he sets a trap, playing on their expectation that using dark magic will unlock every door.
If Spike hadn't been with Twilight, would Twilight ever had stopped staring at that wall? Intersting thing to think about.
The final trap, contains the individual, but is also teleport proof.
We are skipping the evil part because.... its kinda obvious he's evil.
So how is he obsessed with control? Think about it? He enslaves his subjects, erases their memories to ensure they can't remember Cadnece is the Crystal Princess creates diabolical traps that require lots of thought and effort? This guy wants to ensure he remains in power, and thus remain in control. Kinda obvious.
In the next part, we will talk about abilities that Sombra has!
