Observing MLP : Sombra (PT1)
Man its been a while. An entire season and half of Teen Wolf has passed me by on my massive hiatus. While I may go into some Teen Wolf analysis later in the months ahead, I've decided to start off my grand return with an MLP anaylsis post.
Since I haven't read the comics, and they are considered non-canon unless the showwriters want to use it, they are a non-factor.
I'm going straight to the beginning of Season 3, focusing on good old KING SOMBRA. And not only am I going to explain why this guy is probably the darkest, and possibly most intelligent villain on the show,
So what do we know about Sombra. Here's a quick run down.
He is a unicorn who enslaved the Crystal Ponies
He was turned to shadow when the Sisters banished him
When he was banished, the Crystal Empire disappeared with him.
When the Empire returned, (Along with Sombra) It is implied that Sombra had removed every single crystal ponies memory of the past.
Sombra is definitely intelligent
He used dark magic. And was considered to have a heart as black as night AKA, evil.
Now for the indepth talk.
Sombra is one of my favorite MLP villains, because he is the first real villain that I think was not only far more efficient than the other villains, but didn't lose because of his arrogance. Not only that, the implications of his abilties, his actions, and his personality.
Now lets talk about his personality, because he does have one. What is it? He's an intelligent but evil tyrant who's obsessed with control.
Yes its a weak personality, but it does exist., So How do I figure that?
First lets break it down.
His intelligence is shown right when Twilight and her friends meet Shining. What does he do? Go after them right when they get there. Don't give them time to get to Crystal Empire, destroy them before they become a threat.
Also his tactics. He basicaly lays siege to the Crystal Empire. All he has to do is wait until Cadence gives out. Heck, just to weaken them further, he ensures that Shining can't use his shield spell.
Finally how he hid the Crystal Heart. The only way to get to the door is to use dark magic, which most ponies wouldn't do. Plus the Crystal Ponies aren't unicorns, so they wouldn't be able to use magic. But then, if a pony does get through, he sets a trap, playing on their expectation that using dark magic will unlock every door.
If Spike hadn't been with Twilight, would Twilight ever had stopped staring at that wall? Intersting thing to think about.
The final trap, contains the individual, but is also teleport proof.
We are skipping the evil part because.... its kinda obvious he's evil.
So how is he obsessed with control? Think about it? He enslaves his subjects, erases their memories to ensure they can't remember Cadnece is the Crystal Princess creates diabolical traps that require lots of thought and effort? This guy wants to ensure he remains in power, and thus remain in control. Kinda obvious.
In the next part, we will talk about abilities that Sombra has!
Do you ever wonder if Mason was an engine-child operator? That tick of hers where she mimics hand movements of cleaning out engine muck similar to when they found Timmy. If there's anything to go by, her need for dentures and clear signs of psychosis indicate that she hasn't had it as easy as the rest of the front-sectioners, let alone for someone inside Wilford's inner circle.
All of your arguments make perfect sense, and it’s all logical. Under other circumstances I would have bought this theory 100%…
But the train has been rattling for 18 years only. So *if* Mason had been an engine child, it would mean that at least 16/17 years ago she was five, maybe six or seven since she’s a girl, she might be smaller than boys. At worse, if we push as much as we can that makes her 24/25 years old.
It’s possible that an engine child position would make the poor kids grow old faster, but that Mason would be 24? That sounds a bit too impossible.
I don’t know, but that’s an interesting theory.
I read another interesting theory. We have no idea if an adult could fit in there. If we are to believe Wilford, this was a recent development. My feeling is that there were few people allowed in the engine room and he and Mason may have been taking turns, in very cramped quarters, until he lost his hand. I think the other child, Andy, was supposed to replace Timmy when the train stopped. That chamber he went in was to bring him under the floor. Timmy could not stay in there forever.

Why Scott has been treated well.
This mostly originates from some Scott-lovers saying that Scott hasn't been treated well in 3B of the season, point out aspects of focusing mostly on Stiles, and not really on Scott being a True Alpha or his character, annoyed at his inability to fight the beta and what not.
One I would like to point out, that while Scott is a True Alpha, he is still an Alpha. His pack has maybe one werewolf, or two if you consider Malia as a were coyote. The lore states that you need werewolves in your pack to be more powerful.
The True Alpha is about being a Alpha who protects, trusts, and cares for their pack, made to defend, not hunt. But other than that, the True Alpha still follows the rules of an Alpha.
What is great about Scott's character this season, is that now that's he passed the challenge of Deucalion's philosophy, the temptation of killing Jennifer under Deucalion's orders, and all the chaos around that, he's accepted his role as a natural leader.
But his nature as a True Alpha and as Scott shows with his relationship with Stiles this season. He's willing to take the risk of Stiles lying about being in control causes he trusts him. He looks for another way to save Stiles, but also tries to gain as much infortmation as he could on the Nogitsune from Kira's mom.
While many would love more character development and so on, most of it sadly would delay the pacing of main story arc. And yes boys are girls, Stiles is the main focus of this season, like Jackson was in season 2. Cause he's the villain.
Scott Mccall as shown subtle development and character throughout season 3b, showing a subtle but great character in constant chaos and destruction.
Note for fandom:
The problem I think everyone, including me... is that we always want more from a show than most people think. Many people criticize Jeff Davis, and while sometimes they are right, mostly they just exaggerate a lot of things, trying to point out flaws.
Like I grown to say, Jeff Davis is not a gift. But he tries. He makes mistakes, and yes the pacing is off. But instead of nitpicking, can we instead focus on the big picture instead?
Answer the question above if you want. Also if you want to debate privately, just send me a message.
So will you focus on the big picture instead?
You asked for stuff to discuss: how about the recent Poseygate?
I try to keep away from the really inane fandom stuff. I'm staying away from that. Short answer: Why even care about what the actor/thinks or says. Just enjoy the show.
Anyone got some meta for me?
Give some Teen WOlf meta or fandom problems I can discuss. Send me links to your meta, to all that crap. I want a reason to discuss thing dammit!
Reblog it all
IF anyone is currently watching my tumblr, I've said it before and I'll say it again. A like is great and all, but reblogging it for others to see is even better. For those who do so, I would be extremely grateful.
Why Scott Mccall is a interesting character
Scott Mccall is a interesting character, because he's a person who is the definition of humanity and kindness, but still struggles with doing the right thing when the odds are against him. He switches between being a normal kid, a heroic werewolf, and character who is forced into unbelievable stress and chaos.
He's a well made character that earns the right to be the main character
The thing I don't get about Deucalion being more redeemable than Jennifer is that at the time he hadn't done anything you could actually consider good? Sending braeden happened later.
I meant compared to Jennifer. Jennifer never showed any sign of change. Deucalion at the very least was shown to be good once, very good in fact. It’s the problem with comparing the two. Deucalion caused two people to die that we knew personally. Jennifer went on a serial killing spree and pretended it was for the right reasons.
Deucalion compared to Jennifer is sadly superior. Both are evil bastards who would take a while to be redeemed. But Jennifer never was shown in any positive light except with Derek, who she then betrayed and tried to kill. Decualion at least was shown to be good once, while the only positive image of Jennifer was lost as she was consumed be revenge.
It’s a matter of comparing the two, then you see the problem with redeeming Jennifer.
Observing Teen Wolf: Why Jennifer couldn't be redeemed
The reason why I feel Deucalion was a better choice in keeping alive is not because he's a white, or male, but because of a character standpoint. Deucalion had done horrible things to everyone, and yes people may be a bit sour about Boyd and Erica and what the Alpha pack did.
But lets make this clear. When both we given a choice, Jennifer showed the least signs of redemption.
Jennifer was the twisted verison of Kate. Similiar in so many ways, but so different it would shock you. Both murdered innocents, both manipulated Derek, and both we violently killed by a werewolf. But the major difference was this: Kate did cause she was a monster, Jennifer did it because she wanted to 'destroy' the monsters.
But of course, that's a lie. She did for revenge, but the real difference is that she actually fell for Derek. It's tragic really in that scene. Her eyes turn vengeful as another person abandon's her, like Kali did.
But here's the important part of this. Jennifer never once thought she was in the wrong. She never thought about changing her methods. In the end, she stood by the murdering of the innocents, and others. All for revenge.
Deucalion for all extent and purposes, was pragmaticlly insane. He wanted power, due to his insecurities about his weakness, and his broken philsophy. Decualion when he saw the True Alpha ascend, realized his philosophy was in fact broken, and killed Jennifer to protect Scott's transformation.
The thing with Deucalion that differs from Jennifer is this:
Deucalion realizes the mistakes he's made when he is defeated, and goes out of his way to help (Deucalion sending Braeden to help out Peter and Derek)
Jennifer never realizes her mistakes, and constantly tries to justify her actions as a necessary evil.
This is why Jennifer CAN'T be redeemed, because as long as she thinks she's in the right, then she can never ever change.
That's why Deucalion can be redeemed, due to him actively realizing what's he done. Like I've said before, the Ascension of the True Alpha is the ultimate destruction of Deucalion's twisted philosophy. When that happens, Deucalion loses. It's like when Jesus rises from the dead after three days, it's too pure, to holy, not to be true.
When is philosophy falls, all he was left his old one, now reproven by Scott.
At least that's my take on it. Teen Wolf fandom, rip this to shreds! Message me, reblog it, send hate mail, anything you want!
Observing Teen Wolf: Season 3A's theme
I've been rewatching and think about about Season 3A, and I finally got the amazing theme they were going for: Evolution. Or at the very least, the animal vs humanity.
Think about it. Deucalion once praised being the more civilized invidual, but literally devovled in to an animalistic beast, who while is still the strongest on Teen Wolf, isn't an Alpha worth following.
Then have the origins of the wolves, where the ones who are cursed acted like wolves, and had to evolve back to humanity with the help of the Druids.
Gerard succumbed to his more base natures and killed he thought were a threat, creating the war started everything.
Derek himself says, I'm a predator, but I don't have to be a killer, choosing to accept his nature as wolf, but to be truly human.
Allision changes, and transforms the hunters code, evolving and adapting with the times.
The Sheriff learns the truth, and as we seen in season 3b, is evolving, adapting to his new world view.
The True Alpha isn't stronger than Deucalion. The True Alpha represents the pinnacle of humanity within the wolf. The ultimate evolution from Omega to Alpha, while retaining the humanity of the indiviudal. It's why Scott is the true Alpha, beacuse he doesn't need a druid to keep himself in check, cause he never saw himself or anyone else as not human.
It's evolution, with the old ways giving into the new
Season 3b, for all it's flaws, actually has a lot of good themes, if you look close enough.
Why Peter being a father is fucking awesome.
I don't even have to do a massive analysis of this.
So the manipulative bastard who switches between loving uncle to power hungry maniac now must deal with the concept of having a kid, dealing with his own issues with power, along with trying to use this to his advantage.
Look Peter may be a sick bastard who I want dead, but the potential for awesome dialogue, drama, and chaos is too much not to be used.
Observing Fandoms: Negativity in Teen Wolf
Look... this fandom is wacked sometimes. I mean, I made a post on something called Jeff Davis Tries, trying to focus on the positive instead of the negative, and while some where okay with it, others felt I was completely wrong. And that's fine, but honestly, it leads into a main problem I have with this fandom.
Look, I love being critical about something. I love tearing apart something that deserves to be teared apart. But honestly, why does everything have to be so negative?
In the shipping, in the characters. Hey, Stiles gets to be the villain, allowing for interesting development and or radical change to formula? BOO, he's another white guy, more Kira! , Sterek must burn, all that crap.
People say this. It's a reality. And it drives me nuts.
I'm sorry, but it when it comes to this, It makes me angry. Any type of positivity is ripped to sheds due to the dislike of ship, or a character. It's annoying too, cause I know this wont' change anything, hell I might get more negative reactions.
Here's a fact boys and girls, jeff davis does try. Emphasis on 'try'. It's my new tag, and I want you to spread it around. Talk about the positive along with the negative.
If any of my followers do this, It would be most appreciated, and those are't following, it's appreciated as well.
Jeff Davis is not a gift. Butt that doesn't mean we have to be rude about it.
