Story time!
So two little kids are trying to make a sand castle. One kid got a little head start and their parent was helping them out in the beginning, so they always get a full bucket of sand and in no time has a really nice sand castle, while the other kid is still struggling to make one. So the parent is a little tired from helping the other kid, feels bad, and starts filling the bucket halfway to give to the kid whose castle is taking much longer to make. They said they would help, but at that point they didn't feel like carrying that much weight from the shore all the way to where the kids were, so they only filled it halfway. That kid being helped is a little frustrated that it's still taking such a long time to get a nice big castle, while the other kid is just admiring theirs, and adding seashells and other decorations. Parent: "Don't whine, I don't have to be helping you at all", the kid understands, but they're still a little upset that it's taking so long. The first kid with a long finished castle moans: "HOW COME YOU'VE BEEN HELPING THEM THIS WHOLE HOUR??" The second kid reasons: "They were helping you all day and is barely helping me now." First kid: "BUT WHAT IF I WANT TO MAKE ANOTHER CASTLE?! I'M TIRED OF THIS ONE, IT'S BORING." So the parent decides to avoid a scene, "You know what? You're absolutely right. I have to be fair." and happily goes back to helping the first kid. Second kid: "I need my castle finished before they can get ANOTHER giant one. How come you're helping them even more and leaving me with this unfinished castle that's starting to crumble?" Parent: "Because this is a metaphor for politics." The End.
